Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

What's the deal with these daffodils that aren't blooming? The foliage is up, but there's no bloom. Hmmm....fertilizer (phosphorus or is it potassium?) or maybe they need dividing. Are they getting enough light?

CS: couple things come to mind; not enough fertilizer or the bulbs are too deep and have to use their energy just to break the surface. The bulbs seem to migrate downward over time.

G'nad, hows the wife this morning? - I can't even imagine how uncomfortable she is getting! - What does she do? - A friend of mine said she couldn't sit the last month. Could stand or lay down. And needed help in the transitions. Prayers are with her!

Hey everyone!
Alyson has been sick so I wasn't here at work yesterday. I didn't have time to go online yesterday at home either. :(
I took her to the pediatrician yesterday and she has roseola (sp?). Basically, fever and rash-looking blotches all over. My main concern is that she wasn't holding anything down with the exception of mint tea, which has zero nutritional value even though it kept her from dehydrating. Now she is feeling a bit better, fever is down and formula is not coming back up. Thank GOD!
Needless to say, I am trying to catch up 3 days worth of work now, so lemme get breakfast on and hustle out of here.
Pancakes and maple syrup, fried eggs and grits, scrambled eggs with ham and cheese, hash browns, buttermilk biscuits (flaky and delicious!), blueberry and banana-nut muffins. Honey butter is in the icebox. Coffee is perked and juices are chilled. ENJOY!
I haven't caught up on the posts yet, but I'll try to catch up a bit later.

Yes, they have plenty of light. I didn't fertilize them this year (yes, my m-i-l said I should, but I didn't).
So, should I go ahead and plan to divide them? Just how far down should they be. And when do I feed them.
I plan to re-mulch the area where they are and put in some pansies for the summer once the daffodils have finished blooming. So if they're gonna move, it'll have to be before I do that, which is okay.
