Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

Thanks. I think the daylilies will be fine. My m-i-l will tend to them.
I think I'll be better off just getting a new coat next fall. It was already a little large. And I hope to be down at least another 60-80 lbs. by the time I need it again.

Good evening!
I'm happy. My computer is again in good health, and my books came. Not much more one could ask for!

To: Corin Stormhands
Well. All right. Chocolate chip cookies would be nice, but I'm sworn off... sigh...

Did you see the cool muck bucket cart that lady was carryin'?Marl has a strange enthusiasm for mutli-color plastic buckets, too. Each horse and pony has his/her own bucket for mixing feed in. Not only is the color of the bucket significant (to Marl alone), but each bucket has several bands of plastic tape of different colors. This is Marl's coding scheme of who owns the bucket, and what the feed formula is.
As a practical person, I once asked her why she didn't just write a name and some weights of feed on each one. She said her system was more convenient. Then she'd put a bucket in each of my hands, and point me to the right stall.
I have a degree in math, and tried to figure out what her coding scheme was, but without luck. I'm afraid to ask her to explain it to me, because my brain might break.

Have to get some colored tape.

She also picked up a couple of junk chest freezers to store grain in. The inner liner is strong enough to hold several hundred pounds of grain, and the lid is heavy enough that racoons can't get in.

I have a locking grain bin that 10 gorillas couldn't get into.... mostly so if someone got loose they couldn't founder themselves on it. I am good in that container department!
Just don't ask me for her secret coding scheme.
Silly... I am jiggy with it! - I can figure out my own color coding scheme!

The mail should be delivered daily to the Battalion, and disseminated down from there. If a company or platoon is out of the base camp, it may be held until they return... but as a rule, the mail clerks don't like to hold mail... that old responsibilty for loss and federal prosecution thing...

Okay, today's gardening question is:
What's the deal with these daffodils that aren't blooming? The foliage is up, but there's no bloom. Are they just late?
Or have I de-flowered them?
To: All
Hmmm....computer advice....gardening advice....clothing advice....dog advice....

To: Corin Stormhands

Home. The notebook is for Jr. to use at school. We decided to go ahead an upgrade our desktop at home too. I'm here typing on a 1998 Packard Bell...
