Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

Hey, g'nad...how often do you think the guys in Afghanistan get their mail?? Daily?
It only took nine days for the mail to get to them last time. I still can't believe it. I look at the map and still can't believe it got there that fast.

I'm just so upset at those two. I'll never speak another word to either of them....which is fine as I never cared for either of them to begin with!I can identify in my own little way. I just got the e-mail "drop dead" from somebody I've known for years. No great loss, I suppose, but still it is indicative of how weird the left can get....

Guess I'm lucky to work for an evil agrochemical company. The most annoyed I've been is when the guy in the lab next door plays NPR too loudly.

Hah! Great story from the family in Arizona!
Just got off the phone with mom and she said just a little while ago, some guy at the Diamonbacks game called in to the local radio show on a cell phone. It seems during the very patriotic opening ceremonies some fool refused to stand for the National Anthem.
The baseball fans sitting near him beat the snot out of him.

Reminds me of a woman that once came up to me at work...a co-worker, not a boss or anything, and said "May I have a word with you privately please?" I said "Actually, no." and walked off. This woman went ever-lovin' OFF on me! Started shrieking and yelling at me. She said
"I'm never gonna speak to you again!!" I turned to her very calmly and said "Great...why don't you start now?"
ROFLOL!!! One of the best lines I've ever come up with, imo. I'm still patting myself on the back for that one!

So I don't know if I'm supposed to know about it or not yet. You wouldn't have to bring that incident up. All you need to do is drop her a nice note that says "I heard your husband is in Kuwait. I just wanted to thank you and let you know your family is in my prayers."

CS: daylilies are pretty tough, a little miracle grow water and keep them watered, they'll be fine.
btw, if you are really attached to your wool coat, check out having it altered, some dry-cleaners have an alteration service. I've had it done with good results. good luck.
