Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

Between Michelle's disappearance and recovery (she's in a residential rehab now), Max's cancer and chemo (still ongoing but he has improved, praise GOD!) and now this - not to mention the troubles I've been having in my personal life - I'm telling you truthfully, I'd be lost without you guys to talk to.

I came awake with the strangest mental picture this morning. I had gone to bed after listening to the war news and they were talking about the sandstorms with which our folks would have to contend in their push for Baghdad. I got this picture of "Dune" when Paul Atreides and the Fremen warriors are making their push into the city to defeat the Emperor and the evil Harkonnen family. They come into the city in the midst of a huge sandstorm, and I though of our folks 'riding' the storm into Baghdad.
Silly, I know, but I just had the strongest feeling about it! The media has been so negative about our abilities to deal with that situation, but they keep forgetting that whatever natural conditions with which WE have to contend, the Iraqis have the same problem. I don't think their military is in any better shape to deal with it than ours, in fact they're the ones at a disadvantage. We have all kinds of ways to deal with the attack, and they have to be prepared to defend against any one we happen to unleash!
I have every confidence that we'll prevail, and in the not too distant future.

Did you whack him with a stick? Nah. He (literally) kept me from goin' crazy when my dad died. I give him a lot of slack...(and vice versa)
