The Hobbit Hole III - Journey to the Cross-roads!

Posted on 12/17/2002 7:32:02 AM PST by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Journey to the Cross-roads

The Two Towers Edition

Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)

Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

Oh, there it is! Yes, I thought you would like it. And yes, beer did seem like the right way to go. lol Funny too, the day before I finally got it mailed to you, I was searching through a drawer and the paper thing that came with the glass fell out of the drawer and onto the floor. I started to throw it away and then looked at it closer, and then stuck it inside the glass.

Did you see that they found WhirlwindAttack's daughter and her friend (and they're okay)?

Morning Pippin!

MSNBC Just showed a reporter standing outside a bunker in Kuwait City, with air raid sirens going off. [the soldiers all scrambled inside, the reporter stood out in the open with his microphone (no comment)]. The bunker was piled high with [sand bags?] on the outside which gave it a very round and hobbit hole look. Behind him I could see the door into the bunker and painted over the door was "________ End". Couldn't see it because the reporter was standing in the way.

Well, he doesn't like to fight...he just wants to pout. And when I start fighting, he doesn't like it and stops pouting to get me to stop! LOL

It works pretty good in our case...because I don't like to fight either and can usually get over it pretty quick. I can't stand pouting...I don't do it, and I don't allow it.

No, I didn't see that! Thanks for letting me know though!

Michelle has been placed in a residential facility for troubled teens. The psychologists say that they believe she is holding something back and they fear she may have suffered a very serious trauma as a child (hinting sexual abuse). Michelle was in a lot of day cares growing up, so its's not impossible.

She will stay there for an open-ended amount of time, until the doctors can find out what is causing her to act out in such a self-destructive manner.

As far as my cousin Max goes, the chemotherapy has really done a fantastic job. He's already been sent home and must return for outpatient treatment 3 times a week until the tumor is gone. He should be getting more blood tests next week and we'll have a better idea of where he stands then.

I'm not a grudge holder either. That's one of the reasons I cannot be a Dwarf! LOL! :)

OK here is a photo of that reporter that shows the whole sign over the doorway. Not sure what it means now...

Who knows about bunkers?

I think we have both Age of Kings and Age of Conquerors as well, but I'm not sure which versions. I need to dig out our install CDs and check... as well as install the games on my computer (new computer since I the last time I played...)

When you log into the Gaming Zone and go into one of the rooms it detects what version you have and sends you to MS for the latest patch if you don't have it. I guess that is their way of ensuring that everyone is on the same page.

I think it was a 4MB patch to get mine up to version 1.0C(I believe).

Cool! Max is well enough to go home! I hate hospitals

I was reading the thread and WWA said they were at a sherrif's office and tired and that he was just leaving to pick them up.

It would be so disturbing now with that guy standing there in his gas mask!

I thought it was a funny when I thought it did possibly say Bag End. It would make running in there more comforting, if possible.

So I threw what I call (to myself) a "flashfire fit". Very short burst of anger that kinda knocks him back into shape.

Kind of like a 2J version of "shock and awe?" ;^)

Yep. But never in front of the kids. If I have to do it when the kids are around, I send them somewhere, like "Kids, go out in the shop and get the bread out of the freezer"...then, by the time they get back, it's all over...life is rosey.

Half the time, Steve tries to go out with them, though...LOL

;-)

I'll tell you how it went one time...it's really funny. Steve was all swelled up...I can't remember what about, but I turned to the kids and said "Load up in the car, boys! Let's go eat and give dad some down time..." They got in the car...I did my shock and awe and then started to leave for supper. Steve said "WAIT!!" I turned around, all expecting either a fight or an apology. Steve had this really sad look on his face and he says "Can I go eat Ci Ci's too?" It was so funny. He could care less that I was upset with him...he just wanted the pizza.

It was so funny that I cracked up and we all went out to eat.
