The Hobbit Hole III - Journey to the Cross-roads!

Posted on 12/17/2002 7:32:02 AM PST by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Journey to the Cross-roads

The Two Towers Edition

Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)

Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

Oh...and the drummer is one of the few non-family members, so I can't really blame him!

I'd be happy to help, though I haven't gotten into the Silmarillion yet except to read your daily notes. But I'd be happy to post more of the Martinez or other articles you might recommend, just let me know.

We're performing again next weekend - hopefully we can avoid arguing on stage!

I reckon you'll have to clear up that 'practice time' thing before-hand. Glad to know it went (mostly) well, though, and I hope good things come from the shows!

2J, I am a little confused as to how to participate in your care package deal, since I've been away from the computer the last few days. Saw something about paypal for donations?

Hair, what is the formula for a link? If it is not too difficult to explain, that is, I don't want to ask you to go into a lengthy abstruse explanation.

Good afternoon, All.

I'm glad your gig went mostly ok.

They have a thing at Lowe's that should shape your brothers up, it's called a 2"x4" and they come in all sorts of lengths.

No lengthy explainations needed!

It is basically "A HREF="URL">Label for link<

The link TORN looks like:
< a href="http://www.theonering.net/index.stat">TORN< /a>

(ignore the space after the < marks, have to put those in to get it to *not* show up as a link!)

Also - if you use NO html in the rest of the post, a URL address will automatically show up as a link, just copy/paste it.

More Info On ROTK Trailer In May?
Xoanon @ 1:08 pm EST
Recently Ain't-it-cool-news ran a story quoting PJ as stating that there MAY be a POSSIBLE ROTK trailer out in the month of May. Missy sends this along to add a little more fuel to the fire:

Thought I would drop you a line, I work at a movie theater and we get these magizines every couple of weeks the newest one listed the ROTK trailer was going to be sent out in May along with a one sheet to promote the movie (a one sheet is a poster just printed on one side not both like a movie poster or a teaser poster).

Wouldn't there also be the possibility that there are more laptops available that could play the DVD? Or am I sounding ignorant again?

(Yeesh! I just got out of a 2 1/2 meeting with the trolls. I was headin' towards renal failure...)

No, That is right. Newer laptops/computers might have combo CD/DVD drives!

It's been 20 (30?) years since I even picked up the book. I couldn't get through it then. Maybe I'll take it to the beach this summer (of course I'll be re-reading LOTR).

I reckon you'll have to clear up that 'practice time' thing before-hand.

Well...this time should be no big deal. What happened this weekend is that we (as a whole group) had a complete set list figured out, but two of my brothers and a friend wanted to do a short set in the middle...and didn't have it completely thought out. Then the one that really got furious with me was upset because he said people were there to eat, not to listen to us, and it didn't matter that the stage was empty for quite a while. But at that point, the dinner was over and some people had stayed just to listen and to wait until the end when they did some raffle drawings...a lot of those people left when it looked like the music was over. I KNOW it wasn't about us, but at that point, we WERE performing and not just background music, and as it was, we only did one or two songs after the dinner and then waited and waited and waited for them to come out...and didn't perform anything because we thought they were coming out any sec. Oh well.

Well, you know how fractious bands are...

Several mothers in our neighborhood have actually forbidden Jr. and his friends to talk about the band in their homes.

I bet it was still the drummer's fault. It usually is!

Keep a safe distance away from your drummer. I've heard that they tend to self-combust.

Hair, I don't know if I'll be able to pull off that shuttle launch during Entmoot. I have pull, but not enough to pull against the Columbia investigation.

Maybe I can see about getting a super-secret spy satellite launched while you're in town. ;^)
