Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

Hi, LCS.
Where did you find the wine?
To: Sam Cree
Where did you find the wine?In dumpsters! I spend a lot of time there lately. Long time no see, Sam, I hope to get going at home again soon on the internet.
To: Lucius Cornelius Sulla
Yes, nice to see you again, you are missed on this thread. H'm, I'm wondering if I should look for a dumpster...
I have been getting Australian wine recently, cheaper than Californian and even French, but still tastes very good, at least on my level of wine tasting.

Spring time everywhere, I guess. This has been absolutely the worst pollen season I ever remember, don't know what could have triggered it.

This has been absolutely the worst pollen season I ever rememberBut the pine pollen isn't out yet!

Are you talking about loblollies, OT? Before Hurricane Andrew, there were about 40 longleaf Dade county pines in my yard. Not a single one survived the storm, though. I've got live oaks and sable palmettos now, mostly.
To tell you the truth, I don't remember exactly how the pine pollen was, the needles were a constant mess though. Still, I think almost nothing beats live oaks for messiness.

2JM: happy birthday, sunny mid-70's as well up here. Simply a wonderful change of pace.
OT: got some garden time in today; moved seven roseofsharons and one rhododenron. Since the big hackberry is gone, will be shifting a lot of stuff around.
Hair: using the atlas which has a hand y table for trips and distances. Bags End to Rivendell is 453-473 miles. Several days have ranges of distances. The author noted not everything exactly matches up but is pretty close.

I know what you mean! We have all been sneezing in unison, especially when the storms that sweep through are coming...then it's a cacophony of sneezes around here! LOL
Here is a picture of me, supervising the car washing...

Daughter was here for a couple days...heard her talking about her Chuck Taylors!

One thing about being deaf in this right ear, I can't tell where sounds are coming from if I don't know what the sound is...like the phone ringing sounds like it's coming from the direction of the phone, because I know what the sound is.
Just now, I had my head under the counter looking for a particular baking pan, and I heard this grinding sound...scared me to death 'cause I couldn't figure out where the sound was coming from or what it was. I thought it was coming from under the counter with me. Finally I realized it was the bread making machine kneeding the dough on the counter-top! LOL
My heart is still pounding from the start it gave me!

Are you talking about loblollies, OT? Loblollies mostly although we do have other pines. When they start releasing pollen don't even think about washing your car until they stop.
To: osagebowman
OT: got some garden time in today; I'm already spoiled on 60 degree weather! Today it's been cloudy and in the 40's and I didn't get anything done outside.

Hehehe...are you going to fess up?

To: Overtaxed
Night in Casablanca, with the Marx Bros?
To: Sam Cree
No...the real Casablanca with Humphrey Bogart.
