Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

Hey ya'll, I will as for forgiveness in advance if it bothers anybody that I'm about to do this. Please forgive me. But, I just got an email from my daughter whose husband is fixing to deploy to the war zone. I'd like to share it with you because I sure think she summed up some stuff really well. This is following my email to her yesterday about the Charlie Daniels thing.

That was really cool. I will have to let Tom read that one. I was so disgusted when I saw on the news about that group called Code Pink who protested at the White House. It was a bunch of women who were against war that would take Saddam out of power. I was disgusted because I don't know if they realize that the WOMEN over there are so mistreated i.e. raped, beaten, killed, etc. Not to mention that they have no rights. The reason that these women think that America is bad is because they are so oppressed by the Men or Man in power over there that they only hear what the MEN/MAN want them to hear that Americans are a bunch of killers who want to do worse things to them than are already happening to them. I wonder how long those powdery, pretty in PINK women would last over in that country. If they want to do some thing to help the Iraqi's, I have heard that Saddam is looking for recruits to become human sheilds, they can give their lives to "help" the Iraqi cause. I am about as womanly as any woman, I like to wear pink & dress up & wear makeup, not to mention cook, sew, and take care of my kids and I hate the fact that my husband is possibly going to deploy to that region. However, I know that if/when he does go I will support him in any way because I like the fact that I can dress the way I please, enjoy my FREE time, & not live in fear of some man using my body or my childrens bodies because it is his "right" to do so! Those women disgust me & give all of us other American women a bad name! How dare they! Maybe they would like it better if Clinton were back in office because he would undoubtedly do nothing to stop this tyrant. He would probably sit back & let it go, while USING a female intern to get his jollies! I also would like to point out that it was not only men that died in the World Trade Centers Attack! Just think of all those women who were so scared to death that they jumped from a 70th story building, or even they ones that burned to death in the flames from the explosion, or how about the ones that were crushed to death from the building collapsing, not to mention the ones who suffocated to death from smoke inhalation and lack of air due to the fact that there was tons of rubble on top of them! Sorry about that, I just need to vent! I saw that on TV over the weekend & the Charlie Daniels e-mail reminded me of it so I just thought I would let you know how disgusted I was!

Look! I made a list of items for the care packages I'm sending...(not all at one time, you know). My friend that got me in touch with the guy I'm sending them to needed to know how to do it. I think it's a good job.

The items with asterix * are items that might potentially leak or melt in transit, especially things under pressure, like the cheese and the shaving cream. If you combine food items with shaving cream and it explodes, then the food items would have the smell on them. When sending a combination box, be sure and enclose items that might potentially leak in a plastic baggie, large enough to contain any spills.

Do NOT send anything that resembles a white powdery substance. I'm sure talcum powder would be appreciated but it should not be sent. I would even stay away from anything that has powdered sugar on it. Instant drink powders are probably not a good idea.

Food and hygiene items need to be in their original unopened containers.

When mailing, be sure and keep a list of everything enclosed in the box. You will need to write a detailed list on a customs slip, which they will give you at the post office. Be sure and put on the slip that the item is a bona fide gift. There ought to be a little box to check.

There are restrictions on the size you can send. The box must not exceed 130 inches in combined length and girth. So measure the box length...then measure around it and add together.

This probably doesn't need to be said, but...no pornography, no weapons, no alcoholic beverages or items used to make alcohol, like yeast, or hops.

I still listen to him. Travelled with my Dad to Reno to catch him live, and have seen him live twice in-state.

I never did listen to it. I read one of the guy's books about 18 years ago, but it wasn't too good.
