Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

What is really twisted is I can't find TCM anymore! Do you have Digital Cable? I've had problems with the picture and sound breaking up on TCM when it goes through the digital cable box thingy but when I connect it directly from the wall to the TV, it's fine!

Well, anything that looks and grabs stuff out of an address book is a virus, not just spam. There are lots of programs that scan servers for information that are not viruses. They used to be called spiders and are primarily how search engines function. The addresses and lists in question are serverside so collecting them is a hacking issue not a virus issue. The bulk mailers do the following: 1) compile lists of email addresses from (illegally) scanned servers- and there are lots of ways to do this. 2) contract with a company and send the company's emails to each of the addresses from a phony email address- usually outside of the United States- that becomes defunct after the mailing. Sometimes the mailing gets bounced through legetimate servers making the origination point difficult to discern and thus "spam filters" less effective. Viruses are a separate issue entirely, but you are correct in that some clients are more tempting targets than others due to widespread use.
I have other issues with Outlook, but I'll put the topic aside for now. It boils down to my Contrarian nature- in a nutshell: "If everyone else likes it, I'll probably hate it." Other variations include: "If everyone else is doing it, it is probably wrong." and "Why do it the easy way when you can make life difficult? "

Welcome, welcome! Just arriving for the morning, but saw Scott mention you're an AF Academy grad. My brother graduated in 1969. We drove out to CO from MS. for his Ceremony; long drive but worth every minute! It was a very impressive event!

It's funny, Sir SuziQ didn't mind when my Mama came to visit; it was the only times the house was REALLY clean! I love my Mama, and loved my M-I-L, but I don't think either I, or SSQ would have been able to live with either one for any length of time.
