Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

Ok. My mom ordered it. It's in, we'll probably get it today.
Good morning everyone!

I'd root for the Russians before I'd root for Dook!
Dook is in NC but most of the student body is from NJ, NY, or MD. Dook and UNC are about 9 miles apart down 15-501.

Did you see the thread about the Canadian who called 911 (or the equivalent) to rescue him from his own cat? BWAHAHAHAHA! No! - I haven't seen that yet!

Good Morning!
Is it the weekend yet? We're expecting highs in the 70's today so I'm going to plant stuff when I get home this afternoon.

Larry and Mr. Lunt doing commentary sounds like a hoot!I'll just say that 1) it is geared for adults to "get" what they are saying (actually, it's a 70+minute ad-lib), and 2) there are parts where you better not be drinking anything. ;^)
I picked up Age of Empires II:The Age of Kings along with the Conqueror's expansion. I was up until 3:00am trying it out. I like it. It kind of reminds me of Command & Conquer.
Normally I don't like playing games where you fight real-time, I'm a turn-based fuddy-duddy, but I like C&C type games, and this one fits nicely.
I was playing on easy and still couldn't beat my two computer opponents. I think I need more practice. ;^)

That, ladies, is a riot.
I like to start my morning classes with some comment of political relevance and/or a good joke when I can. This morning, it will be the cat. (with embellishments)

Hullo...good morning! Sorry I'm late.
I went to our new gym this a.m. I'm a happy camper. It's a good investment whether Mrs. and Jr. use it or not. But I have to work on my morning schedule 'cause I need to come back home for breakfast since it's hard to do my diet stuff "on the road." Anyway, what that means is that I didn't have time to check in before I left for the office.
Luke is doing well. Last night he felt well enough to yell at Jr.
Of course my mother-in-law and sister-in-law being here has helped very little...okay none. I don't get it. THAT'S why they came. But last night after the Mrs. had spent the night at the hospital and I'd only gotten about 3 hrs. sleep at home (largely because I was at Wal-Mart buying groceries for them) they decided to go out to dinner with my wife's other sister that lives here. The Mrs. was quick enough to say "take Jr. with you" so she didn't have to cook.
I am being a baaaaaaaad son-in-law. I have realized that, while I am willing, I really, really, REALLY am not looking forward to my m-i-l moving in with us. I am willing because I know we're the only option she has. The siblings in NC are, to put it nicely "white trash." The sister here has two under five and is pregnant again. My wife has always been the responsible one. We'll live with it. We'll make it work. But I wish there was another option.
You guys are just about the only people I can say that to.
I'm here now and running through the threads to catch up...for your entertainment pleasure...

Is it true that there ARE no dwarf women, and dwarves simply spring up out of the ground? That is most assuredly NOT true.
Welcome to the Hobbit Hole.

call it 'mood lighting'. We prefer to call it "nood lighting."
The beards are a personal matter.

Lamb+baas=Lembas It's mutton.
Are you sure that's not Lamb+Bass?
A combination of mutton and fish?

I am off this afternoon and it seems like a perfect afternoon to start getting dirty. ...especially since "they" say it's supposed to rain tomorrow. But with my luck, as soon as I put seeds in the ground drought will hit. :)
To: Overtaxed; RMDupree
Make sure and be here early in the morning so you can beat the dwarves to the bacon when breakfast comes. Ruthy, you gonna let her treat us like that?
To: HairOfTheDog; Overtaxed; g'nad; Corin Stormhands; rightwingreligiousfanatic
You have that dwarf-moot coming up!That will probably be the Black & Blue Moot.
