Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

Good morning!
Why *upset*?

Luke behaved like a brave little dwarf.Like father, like son! So glad he's doing well. His name was published in our Parish bulletin this weekend, so lots of folks will be praying for his recovery!
Hope Jr. does well on the test; I have him on the Prayer Line, too!

Because I always felt like we'd kinda forgot about the guys in the FRY and I don't want that to happen to these guys...
I'd already thought of this, and then to see it coming from "the horses mouth" so to speak just got me.
On a more cheerful note, I'm going shopping this afternoon!
This is the list of things he requested.
Hand Sanitizer (Purel kind)
Sun block/Sunscreen
Disposable Razors
Shaving Cream
Body Lotion
Shampoo
Conditioner
Baby Wipes
Pens/Pencils/Paper Pads
Chapstick
Candy
Junk food/Snack items

Garafalo is an unusual lefty in that she is capable of speaking in complete sentences with a pseudo-intellectual tone of voice. It's all acting, of course, but the point of acting is to snow the audience- and she's good. Kilmeade didn't buy it, challenged her, and the fur flew. It was quite a fight!SSQ was watching the video on my computer while I was cooking supper that night. At first I thought he'd stumbled on to something where Hillary was talking. I was astounded to realize just how much alike those two women sound; and they're both annoying! They have this monotone and condescending manner of speech that makes me want to slap them!

Something for a rainy day!
*31* downloads here : Lord of the Rings: Weta Digital at GDC
About the making of Gollum, Ents, and Massive armies...
I have just finished downloading all of them, and haven't seen them yet, but there is 208 MB of 'stuff' there from a big presentation at a Digital Geek Seminar. All Quicktime files....

Just found out that my fancy-schmancy-good-for-the-back chair has arrived! Is this an office chair for sitting at your desk? SSQ had a 'back adventure' year before last; was out of work for 6 weeks. The first two weeks he could not sit or stand for more than 30 seconds without the pain literally dragging him down! We bought one of those 'gravity' recliners. It is shaped so that when you go roll back in it, all the pressure is released from your spine, so if you have any problems with disc swelling, etc. your back won't hurt after sitting in this chair. We brought his computer down from his office in the attic, and he was able to sit in this chair and do some work from home.
After several weeks of ice packs and intense physical therepy, he was able to go back to work, and when he did, he talked his company into buying one of those super-duper lumbar support executive chairs. It has worked really well.

OK! - Well, I think it is just great that you are sending all that stuff! I don't think anyone could do any better than that! FRMail me your Paypal account and I will put some money in to help out.

Oh Thank you!
I told the guy that some people were helping me out and that when he gets the package, I'd like to be able to tell about it so I can remain accountable to what I do.
My paypal account is my home email address. Not my yahoo one.

It's a nice chair, but I haven't sat in it long enuf to tell if it'll do the trick. This is my first experience with backpain. Never had to deal with it when I was on my feet all day, now I'm sitting all the time doing computer stuff. The pain is in my absolute lowermost back and radiates down my legs. There are times when it gets so bad I can't even drive- my clutch foot can't move through the whole motion. Anyhoo, I've been working thru it- trying not to complain too much, and hopefully will have better luck with this chair.

I cry every time I read it...can't help myself! Ha!Don't you hate when you get fahklempt when you're reading something aloud? We read to the kids every night, and sometimes I'll just be overcome with what I'm reading. A few years ago, I was reading the Redwall books to the kids, and invariably, one of the 'good creatures' dies. I would be reading and my voice would change timbre, and I would just have to tell the kids I was getting fahklempt. Our son loved that word, and he'll still say it today if he hears that change in my voice; "Mom's getting fahklempt!"

Morning everyone, just checking in.
It HAS been pretty quiet around here. Anyone interested in restarting our Silmarillion discussion?
I took the kids to see TTT Friday night at the 8:30 show. Get this, there was a line outside the theatre, and our 120-seat theatre was just about sold-out.
One of the ushers came in before the movie started and told us that it would be there for about 3 or 4 more weeks and that the DVD would be out on 8/7/03.

Don't get upset, 2J. We'll just work harder to let them know they're still in our thoughts and prayers.
One of the sacrifices the military entails is being stationed in Thule, or a fleet oiler in the Pacific, far from the glamor and publicity. They still serve, and we have to keep them in mind, too.

My paypal account is my home email address. Not my yahoo one. LOL! I have no idea what that means... I don't know how to attach money to an email! You want me to just scan a $20?

I know! The problem with me...is I don't like to cry AT ALL. And so my throat will completely close up and I'm afraid tonight I'll just stand there trying to figure out what to do with the saliva that won't go down my closed up throat!

Sorry for that double post! When I tried to post it the first time, I got the "page cannot be displayed" notice. I thought FR was down! I minimized the page, then went back a minute later and tried again, and it went through.
Wierd!

Well, that is good news! on both counts, your lines at the theater, and your bit of DVD news!
ALL: I should have screened those downloads before recommending them without *reservation*. They might still be good for a rainy day, but beware, they are audience video tapes of the presentation, not real high quality files. The picture quality is excellent, but the sound is hard to follow.
File two, for example, (so far) the sound is gone for most of it.... Check them out when you are bored, the pictures they are showing are worth something!

The problem with me...is I don't like to cry AT ALLWell, my family knows I'm just an old softy! I'll get weepy watching movies sometimes, or even something touching on TV!

Ok. Go to paypal. I think it's https:www.paypal.com and set up an account. It's free. Then it'll tell you how to send money...you can send it straight from your bank account to mine. You will just need my email address to send the money, I'm already in the system. It'll find me. It's free for you, and it will send it to me and I can either have them cut me a check (for a charge) or have them put it directly into my account (which is free and what I will do).
I'll take what I get and put in what I can afford (including postage) and buy all I can.
I don't mind doing this for the Hole...but I don't want to get this started for all of Free Republic. Too much!!
