The Hobbit Hole III - Journey to the Cross-roads!

Posted on 12/17/2002 7:32:02 AM PST by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Journey to the Cross-roads

The Two Towers Edition

Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)

Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

New small TVs are good! - Cool!

The SAG awards (Carnival) start in 20 minutes or so.... Spose I should go check TORN and see if we won.

Hullo Seamus!

We're potty-training Autumn now... I'd certainly appreciate any advice you can offer on this subject.

Take her outside frequently and praise her when she goes on the grass! If she does go in the house, take her to it and yell at her, but don't rub her nose in it. That is really gross.

Big'ol hasn't stopped laughing yet, making comments "Is that going to be a coconut cream pie? or a blood pie?" "I'm voting you off the island..." "Bet it's hard to type, hahahah" Blah. I'll order some off the internet next time.

HA! Tell him

opting to instead tell us AFTER she's already gone. Oh well...its got to start somewhere I suppose

That's a good start! She's beginning to be aware of what her body has done, and she'll start making the connection pretty soon of what the 'before' feelings are! Good for her(and y'all). How's your wife and the new baby, by the way? When is she due? Is it in the summer?

I'm sorry, but the clips I've seen of Chicago just made me sick...

I know some hole dwellers liked it...but that Zeta-Jones person comes across like a cow clunking around...imo. They didn't show one scene where she actually danced more than a couple or three steps at a time...they kept cutting the angle and such...

Then I saw her interviewed on Leno, I think, and I believe that was the dumbest person I ever heard speak. I'm sorry...she just seemed like a ditz.

First, get another coconut and throw it at Big Ole Freeper!!!

I know what you mean about the builders. We bought the house we are in now new in 88. We had looked at some others in the area, and SSQ had determined that this one was better built than the others. Of course, things are not always what they seem. We found an electrical circuit that we STILL haven't figured out what it controls. When the pain continued to peel on the trim outside, then parts of the outside sill moldings came apart in my hands when I tried to sand them before painting, we discovered that the builder did not have the painter prime the BACK of the molding before installing and painting it. The condensation from the inside of the house rotted it from the inside out!

That year, SSQ bought him self a sliding Compound Miter Saw for his birthday and Father's day, and proceeded to replace every piece of sill molding on the house; that's 16 windows! He had to mill them himself because NO one had the kind he needed, though the wood for each one only cost about $10. Thank Heavens he's a handy fella! Our neighbor had to have the same work done, and it cost him $150.00 per window!

As Red Green says" If the ladies don't find you handsome, they should at least find you handy!" I'm lucky in that I have both handsome AND handy!

Ooh, I love anime drawings! Are they of LotR?

I don't hink she's done any of the LOTR characters. Most of hers are of characters from popular Anime like Cardcaptor Sakura, and Trigun.

Hi 2J!

I guess we will look for you in the morning, then. Hair and I were going to chat-view the SAG's tonight, but it sounds like even she can't put up with the Chicago accolades!

I'm boycotting them. Ha! (I normally don't watch the stuff anyway, because I think most movies are crap...it's just popular to "boycott" stuff now!)

I'm also boycotting $200 per bottle champagne too!!

Hey girl! I didn't catch that hsing thread you mentioned. I just got on a little while ago. Had Mass at 5:30, then Confirmation class. When I got home, I got into my jammies, and while John did Science with the kids, I flipped between SAG awards and Die Hard 2 (a 'not so guilty' pleasure!!) I watched more of Bruce than I did SAG, though I did get to see William H. Macy win for "Door to Door". Haven't seen that one yet; I'll see if Netflix has it on DVD.
