The Hobbit Hole III - Journey to the Cross-roads!

Posted on 12/17/2002 7:32:02 AM PST by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Journey to the Cross-roads

The Two Towers Edition

Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)

Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

Heh... Well, I got my butt kicked for ten minutes and quit. I am not moving fast enough yet for UT. Maybe I need more coffee. Let me get all amped up on caffeine and try again later! I hate getting my butt kicked by teenagers.

I think it would be a fun idea to have an art thread! There are creative FReepers out there! I would post mine! I only have one painting that has survived the years and closet clearings though. Won't take me long to blow my wad!

I don't think the cats at cat shows have to demonstrate any useful skills!

I'm guessing you probably don't mean University of Texas.

Getting one's butt kicked is no fun, especially on a Sunday. I'm trying to work up an enthusiasm for doing anything today, maybe go and see "Tears of the Sun" with Rose, or at least fire up Sims and see if my artificial people can save up enough money to add a second floor to their house....

Bacon. I need bacon, and eggs, and toast... mmmmm...

I wonder if someone should breed a new cat, the "English pit cat." It could be put in a pit with rats, like a pit bull, this might add some life to the cat shows. Then the audience can place bets on how many rats it can get in a given time span. And just ordinary cats can be placed in a cage with gold finches or lizards. I don't see why cat shows might not be reasonably entertaining. Why not a "best breeder" category too, cats are great at that?

I like your rainy day painting, Hair. Yeah, there are lots of freepers that are creative, maybe this can work, it sounds kind of exciting. Vannrox knows of a site that can host the art free, maybe it's the same one you use, I'm not sure.

Mathches (check!)

I forgot about the matches until after I posted....oh well.

I finished the side porch. Still have the front steps to do but I think I'll do those tomorrow.

Going out to start the fire now. I even got pineapple to grill!

Are they trying to get us into the mindset?

That's what I was thinking. :) Woke up this morning and Ronald Reagan was kicking some Nazi butt.

That monstrosity (PJ's house) looks like the Winchester mansion. :)

Do they have mousing trials at cat shows, though?

I think it would be beneath a cat's dignity to mouse on command. :)

I think you are right about the command, but if one sees a mouse, there is a good chance he will want to respond in some way.

I'm grilling a steak (NY strip).

The Winchester Mansion that was built by the widow of the Winchester rifle dude. She had some weird obsession about something bad would happen if she ever stopped building the house and so it kept growing and growing. Staircases and doors that went nowhere...stuff like that. Creepy!

Yeah, Mrs, Winchester clearly had similar taste in houses to Peter Jackson.

Do you need help w/ the steak?

Good afternoon Sam!

I'm not sure if the Chex Mix and M&Ms I ate this morning qualify as first breakfast, but in any case the bacon, eggs, & toast was pretty good! :)

Your idea for cat shows would make them more exciting I think... PETA wouldn't approve of course, which makes it even better in my opinion!

I think I need a nap.

I just got back from doing some shopping. Bought a small TV at a pawnshop for my bedroom. Now I can chat while I watch the news, which will be important in the next several weeks. And I had to get some new underwear and jeans.

I think it would be beneath a cat's dignity to mouse on command. :)

I remember the time Marl rescued a chipmunk from one of her barn cats. "You can torment all the mice you want, but leave the cute little chipmunks alone", she said as she stuck her foot out to hold back the cat. The chipmunk ran up her leg and back, and jumped on top of her head. Amid her screams of "GET IT OFF!", I brushed the chipmunk off, and it fell to the ground, where the cat immediately pounced on it, and started tormenting it again.

"Go ahead and torture them", she snarled at the cat, and then walked away.

But there never seems to be a shortage of "liberals" waiting to foolishly enlist.

That's because their 'compassion' makes them feel like they are 'better' than the rest of the slobs in the world.

Hehehe....cats just want to have fun.

My cat brought in a baby vole one time. When I first saw it I thought she was playing with one of her toy mice.

Maybe I can convince Kitsune-chan to post one of her drawings of Anime characters.
