Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

I told her it was much easier (grooming-wise) to show Labradors... But she wanted a "pretty dog". At least he is easier to groom than a poodle!

Good for you, Penny! I need to start lifting, my parents have a great weight machine thing, but I just don't have time...

Dog shows are a fairly low-key event. If you want low-key, try a cat show. One weekend Marl ran out of work for me to do, so she wanted to go to a cat show in Grand Rapids.
Hundreds of people sitting inside the hall, with cats in cages stacked next to them. The people were mostly reading newspapers, the cats mostly sleeping. Other people were moving stacks of cats-in-cages around on carts, like so much luggage. Maybe we just missed the exciting part.

I'm a big fan of those 10-minute express workouts, lol....
I'm jealous, you have a good weight machine at your disposal, very handy!

I wandered through a cat show like that once....almost fell asleep before I got out of the building.
I love cats, but they're not exactly exciting "show material" IMHO.

I just don't understand the purpose for cat shows. What the heck difference does good conformation make in a cat?
At least with dogs, they have a purpose or a job they are supposed to do, and an ideal conformation that goes with that job. Except the toy breeds. Good conformation just can't matter in a teacup poodle! Unless perhaps they started breeding for round soft bones that wouldn't poke you when they are sitting on your lap. That would be an ideal breed standard for a toy!

A cat show? Good grief, did they have hairball-spitting competitions?

Ecurbh, nevermind on the photoshop favor, I remembered that my HP scanner software has some color and brightness tools, and I managed to brighten them well enough myself!

post #19151 was definitely the best of the bunch. I can't stand those weird-faced cats.

Hey, I just checked and saw that LOTR got a "best cast" nomination for the SAG's for TTT. Unfortunately, no single noms for anyone...argh!
I wonder who will be representing them at the awards tomorrow night....
To: Penny1
Your judgment is probably just as valid as any judge on the matter!
