The Hobbit Hole III - Journey to the Cross-roads!

Posted on 12/17/2002 7:32:02 AM PST by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Journey to the Cross-roads

The Two Towers Edition

Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)

Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

Going okay....watching FOTR and having a late dinner. Sure! I like puzzles but I'm on a spending moratorium for the moment. :)

Your father seems "down" because our "cultural elite" has no grounding in reality. He's a compassionate man (under the proper non-PC definition of "compassion") and sees them on the train heading for a train wreck.

It's a shame, but our cultural elite are big boys and girls, and they made their choice after ignoring the warnings. The one thing your father should be grateful for is that 90% of the country is choosing not to join them in the mutual suicide pact.

It was the "cultural elite" that said, immediately post-911, that "everything has changed". Well, nothing has changed, especially them. They're still living in their little liberal private universe, where actions do not have consequences, and good intentions are superior to good deeds.

They were temporarily shocked into silence by 911, and looked into their puny souls, to the best of their ability. They could not acknowledge that their unexamined, emotion-laden, solipsistic philosophy could ever be wrong, so by their "logic" we are the ones that are somehow at fault. They long for the days when klinton told them it was all about himself, and they worshipped him for it. They are junkies who get desperate at even the thought that their supply of dope could be turned off.

In the imagery of LOTR, they've gone the Grima Wormtongue route. Bush is saying "Open war is upon you. Whether you risk it or not." They've got their fingers in the ears, yelling "la la la la I can't hear you." America and her military took out the nazis and the kamikazes, and they were smarter, tougher, and more honorable foes than this bunch of hopped-up orc wannabes. It ain't gonna be pretty, but our enemies have been begging for it, and they're about to get it. Leftists preaching denial can't change it, and that's why they have to make themselves sound a thousand times more numerous than they really are.

Hey everyone!

I just popped in to update you on nothing. :(

Still no sign of or from Michelle and our spirits are saddened. We finally broke into her computer and it looks she was communicating with some guy in Miami Beach. Her parents are sifting through her inbox and temp internet files to see if they can pick up any clues.

I have a feeling she is still alive, but someone has her and won't let her go. Weird and distressing. Oh Lord, PLEASE keep her safe!!!

I've got to go to the other thread now and then sign off. I'll be back later if I can, but no promises. I'm trying to keep my line free.

Hmm, could be the 3D puzzles are new and they haven't updated the site yet. Or, it may be that they haven't found a distributor who will sell to them yet.
