Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

We had thunder-sleet this afternoon... sleet and freezing rain, together with lightning and thunder. LOL! We had that yesterday! First time I'd ever seen that. It began sleeting, then we heard the thunder, then it went into rain and 10 minutes later the sun was out! That didn't last, though, because it started pouring again about a hour later and continued for a couple of hours. We had rain all day Sat. and most of the day Sun. and it is hard to tell if ANY of the snowpack has gone!
I'll never forget the first time I experienced thunder show. I was watching it snow one day, saw a bright flash, but thought it couldn't possibly be lightning. A few seconds later I heard the thunder and was so surprised. I thought you'd get thunder and lightning only during a rainstorm.

Hey OT, I think I like the new slogan better. Didja see this? Yep. Vim pinged me to that thread. I like their slogan better too.

I like their slogan better too. Funny thing is, the idjits over at DU thought it was an insult!
We're s'posed to get more "weather" tonite and tomorrow. Light snow, then rain. This weekend I am driving to Punxsatawney, PA to go groundhog hunting...
Hullo! Good morning!

They're saying light snow for tonight and maybe ice tomorrow. This is getting old.

Good morning Lil!
I am trying to get to bed earlier so I can get up earlier and drink my coffee in peace in the morning.
It's a grand experiment! LOL

It is so cold that our heater feels like it can't keep up! I got up and got fully dressed, shoes, sweatshirt and everything, just because it's so cold!
The boys are snug in bed.

I remembered my coffee this morning. I slept in and didn't have time to make any! Looks like it's tea this morning instead. Not that there's anything wrong with tea, but it's not as high in caffeine!
Good morning, all!

Six degrees here. But that's warm compared to a week ago!
Supposed to be 15 to 25 below tonight, though. Here we go again...

(But the weather guys up here at the college say it's 6 degrees here...not as warm as in St. J...)
To: RosieCotton
Oh my!! It's just 13 here today...better than yesterday morning, it was 8. Our high yesterday was 17.
I'm not used to this cold!

hey 2JM... 30 here... snow tomorrow and Thursday...
Becca had a 104 temp yesterday, it was 103.3 at 0230, and it's about 102 this mornin'... loooong nite...
To: g'nad
Bless her heart! Advil (Ibuprofen) is the best thing for it, of course. Knocks it down faster and lasts longer than Tylenol.
What do you think? A cold?

snow tomorrow and Thursday... I'm darn tired of this weather. We're supposed to get that "mix" again, and mostly rain tomorrow. Funny, last summer we were wanting/needing rain. And I wouldn't mind it now if it would warm up.
I may walk down to the river at lunch. It's supposed to crest at 19 ft. I don't know if that means they close the flood wall or not.
Hope Becca gets feeling better. I'd rather be sick than have my kids sick. Our little one still has the congestion. Usually has to cough at night until he throws up, then he's okay. Surgery (tonsils et. al., March 10) should take care of a lot of that.

NOT!
Hope your little one feels better soon!
