The Hobbit Hole III - Journey to the Cross-roads!

Posted on 12/17/2002 7:32:02 AM PST by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Journey to the Cross-roads

The Two Towers Edition

Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)

Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

I've heard that Elrond's last name was Chirac.

That's taking elf-bashing a bit far, isn't it?

Yes... we live on a hill... a big one...

LOL! When we bought our house in 1988, SSQ was looking for 'high ground'. We got one of the higher points in town! There would have to be a flood of Biblical proportions before any water would get to us! Of course we could get stuck up here on an 'island', but we have our emergency kit ready, LOL!

Good Morning! Wake up sleepyheads!

I'm up, I'm up! Was up late, as usual, but finally rolled out this morning about 9:30. Wasn't feeling really great last night, but am doing a little better this morning.

Had to ditch teaching my Confirmation class at the last minute. I started feeling bad while out doing errands about 4:00, and by the time I got home at 5:00, I knew I couldn't spend an hour at Mass, then another hour and a half in class. I felt bad doing that at the last minute, but I didn't want to risk passing anything on to the folks at Mass or the kids in class.

Really ksen. I have little (okay, no) real use for the elfish types but comparing them to the French is just...wrong...

Well, if I want to go anywhere, I'm going to have to try that. I have a feeling it's stuck again. The seal came off in several places, but I'm afraid where it stayed on are stuck now.

I don't need to go anywhere, anyways...check this out:

"Can someone please handle meal duties for me today? Thanks!"

Didn't anyone notice this? I'm hungry! I'll have to take care of it myself then ;-)

Ok let's see...of course there's a big pot of coffee going and some freshly squeezed orange juice to drink.

There's plates of crispy bacon, large juicy sausages, fried potatoes with ham and stacks of pancakes with warm maple syrup. And don't miss the pork chops, steaks and fried eggs on the side table!

I just hope I'm half the cook Ruthie is!

Silly! RC Cola is the proper vintage to serve with moonpies. You serve Coke with peanuts (placed directly in the bottle...)

Oh my gosh...that is one of my favorite treats! Whenever I have that, I get the WEIRDEST looks hehe. Oooo I'm craving it now! (I think all we have in the vending machine is honey roasted peanuts though...I don't think that will taste right...)

Nope. You need the salted ones.

We are having a Rally for America in Melbourne this weekend at 2pm. 3D-JOY is seeing about getting us a place to meet, talk, and eat afterwards.

I know it's a bit of a drive, but we'd like to see you both again.

She's a joy, an angel, for practically speaking, To whom can you turn when the plumbing is leaking....

When we called our favorite plumber recently, it was his wife who came to install our new dryer! Apparently she decided a few years ago to learn the trade, now she works full time with his crew!

Mmmm. Very tasty! I always buy Col. Sup. regular and decaf and mix the beans for our am coffee.
