Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

But there was a tornado warning yesterday.
That would be a big story here.
To: HairOfTheDog
Yeah the weather guy was seeing rotations in his Doppler (how do you like that for an entendre?). I haven't checked the news to see what kind of damage they had.
It's kind of early for tornados. They usually start appearing in the spring.
To: Overtaxed
They usually start appearing in the spring. It would be interesting for me to live where life-threatening weather is common, because I love "big" weather. We don't have anything like that. No hurricanes, no tornados. We have a volcano or two, but they only go off once every million years or so.
To: HairOfTheDog
Heheh...no volcanoes here although I have felt tremors before (it's been a loooooong while, though). We often get tornados with thunderstorms.
Threadkiller in the Hole!

Least it wasn't me this time! Or was it? - Since it was a post to me that I didn't respond to yet that killed the hole, maybe it is still my fault.
Anybody gonna watch the Grammys tonight? Heh.
To: HairOfTheDog
NO WAY!
I'm interested in how the LA chapter's freep of the Oscars goes. :)
To: Overtaxed
Good morning! Weather is, sadly, too nasty for church, yet again.
I think we should crash the Ladies' Guild... they're sure to cover the Grammys, right?

I will probably watch it.... I love a carnival.
BTW I stole a lawnmower yesterday. My friend's neighbors abandoned their house before Christmas, so it has been sitting vacant all winter. We were walking around it and she was talking about how depressing to live next-door to this big junk heap (stuff all over the porch and yard).
There, sitting behind the house in a heap, was one of those old reel push-mowers. I tried it out, and it worked great.
I stole it. (Salvaged it?)

Am I a bad person?
To: JenB
Hehehe.....maybe if I don't have anything better to do I'll lurk on their thread. :)
It's clearing up here. Blue sky with nice puffy clouds. We're getting some gusts, but it's not too bad. Looks like they'll go racing today!
To: JenB
Good morning Jen! - They probably will cover it.... I will be watching.... They are part of the carnival!

They just abandoned it? I'd call it a "salvage operation" then.

Sean Astin At Texas A&M Report
2/23/03, 10:57 am EST - Xoanon
DeeDee writes: Hi, my roommate Shannon and I attended Sean Astin's tribute at Texas A&M, and I thought I'd submit our experience: [More]
What is funny about this article is how she goes into great detail about all of the little fan stuff he said, and then says....
"After that, the moderator asked him about the impact of 9/11. Sean talked a bit about politics, and his friends who were impacted by the disaster at the Pentagon. He told us how on that morning, Elijah had taken a plane from NY to LA, and Sean was worried about him until he found out Elijah was safe."
I don't think our article writer is a political bug.

Good Morning!
Talk to you later then!
To: Overtaxed; JenB
I rationalized that it was a salvage! There was a lot of savable stuff there, My friend was eying some of the lawn furniture, not sure if she will go back over for it or not. The place was bad.... stuff in the house too, though you can barely see in the windows from the mildew growing on them. Ick.
I love those old mowers, they work great, and I will use it to even up the lawn after the horses mow it.
To: 2Jedismom
Hullo! - See ya later!
To: HairOfTheDog
Can you ride on it? Or is it just for cutting the grass? And don't the horses take care of that for you?

Yes....I would call that a slavage operation. Mildew on the windows, ick!
I'm thinking about getting one of those reel mowers when my present one dies. But then I'd have to cut the grass more often. :)
