Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

I'm just annoyed that I can't go anywhere for fear of getting stranded...though with the pooch not feeling so hot, I suppose I shouldn't go anywhere anyway. But it's not fair! Last weekend and the weekend before, it was so cold I didn't really go anywhere (didn't get above zero even during the day), and now that it's finally warm, we get this? Sometimes I wish I understood God's sense of humor...

It keeps raining or otherwise precipitating on the weekends here. I'll never get this stupid wood up!
why can't it rain during the week?
Hehe....the LA Chapter is planning on Freeping the Kodak Theater
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/news/849412/posts?page=19#19Since ya'll cannot protest in Baghdad, ya'll can protest at Universal Studios, or other studios in Hollywood. Carry signs that say "Either you're with us, or against us." Good idea!
We plan to use a similar theme when the Hollywood Resistance Force (also known as the LA Chapter of the Free Republic Network) holds our pro-USA rally at the Academy Awards/Oscars at the Kodak Theatre in HOLLYWOOD on Sunday, March 23.
More details soon, after we hold our pro-USA rally at the L.A. Marathon - THIS Sunday, March 2 - from 10 am to noon - at the Dome Village, near the Staples Center.

My friend has some metal pipe she wants cut. A job for my new saws-all! - Haven't used it yet! When you have a new hammer, everything else starts looking like a nail! :)

why can't it rain during the week?Dunno...if you figure out the answer (and a solution!) let me know...
Listening to Andy Stewart at Green Linnet's site. Have I mentioned before that I'm a sucker for a guy with a great accent?
To: RosieCotton
I just got the (first?) Lunasa CD....called....Lunasa to go with The Merry Sisters of Fate and Otherworld.
To: Overtaxed
I want those! My brother has
Otherworld, as I recall...I don't have the other two! Maybe I'll pick up one or the other at the concert and see if I can get an autograph?
I have a lonnnng list of CDs, I want, though, starting with this one. It's my very favorite CD of all time...I used to own it, but it somehow got lost in the move when I bought the house. Why did it have to be THAT CD! I've been mourning its loss ever since, but with Green Linnet CDs often on sale for $10, I haven't been able to justify the expense. Can't take it any longer, though.

SpongeBob is worse than Barney, Rosie. He is...
Gah, my dad and sisters are going to see "Gods and Generals" tonight. I would rather have my tonsils extracted through my navel than sit through a Civil War movie. So I guess I'll be watching old movies with my mother instead...

Their new CD is supposed to come out soon isn't it? Or perhaps I shouldn't ask....I need to save some money too. :)
To: Overtaxed
I've heard not until summer. So you're safe. ;-)
I forget, are you going to see them in concert?
To: JenB
Did you see our day long discussion of old movies, Jen? Ecurbh asked for some suggestions...I think maybe he ended up wishing he'd never said anything!
To: JenB
SpongeBob is worse than Barney, Rosie. He is... Couldn't be....nothing could be more horrible than Barney.
A few years ago a co-worker was taking a cake decorating course and would bring her assignments in to work. She did Barney once....everyone was calling dibs on the head!
I guess now she's doing SpongeBob spongecake.
Arsenic and Old Lace starts on TCM in a few minutes.
To: Overtaxed
Couldn't be....nothing could be more horrible than Barney.Except for Baby Bop...
To: RosieCotton
I think I missed it already....couldn't find anyone to go with me. :(

Arsenic and Old Lace starts on TCM in a few minutes.(paraphrasing) "Insanity doesn't run in my family...it gallops!"

How far is Raleigh from where you are?
That show is on the 27th.
To: RosieCotton
Actually, we compromised; a new version of an old story, "Sense and Sensibility"! Since my mother doesn't like "Terminator" or "Die Hard", and I don't like "Little Women"....

The one with (*gack!*) Hugh Grant in it?
I actually don't think it's too bad, except for him...though it pales in comparison to the "Pride and Prejudice" made at about the same time. But I think we're all agreed on that...
To: RosieCotton
I didn't miss it! I thought it was last Thursday.
Raleigh's not too far...about 40 minutes with traffic.
