Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

(You can't tell a southern white boy anything about big hair...)
To: Corin Stormhands
LOL!

Are you going to see Gods and General. Roger Ebert hated it... so it has to be good! I am hoping to go Saturday night. I have classes all day Saturday... so if I'm not mentally exhausted, I will go. (Weather permitting also)
To: carton253
Yeah. My son and I want to see it. Trying to figure out when. He wants to go with friends we saw
The Two Towers with. Problem was the dad talked all the way through. I forbade him to invite them!
Not sure if we'll make it this weekend.
To: carton253
Hullo Carton! Thanks for buttering me up.... I have nearly forgotten the 'hall monitor' reference!
To: carton253
How goes it with you? Oh, the usual. Trying not to let my tinfoil hat get too tight and cut off circulation to my brain. Making money, raising my family, and preserving a sense of humor throughout, thanks to FR and friends here.
We had a Minnesota Minimoot at which I took pictures.... posts start here....Minnesota Minimoot... check it out!
Keep up the good work, you are an inspiration...

I don't blame you on the talker. That is the one thing I can't abide. That, and sitting next to people who never seem to know what is going on so they are constantly asking you, "who's that?" "what happened?" "why is he doing that?"
I have to admit, I usually tell them I don't like watching the movie twice. Once for me and once for you.
To: HairOfTheDog
No buttering intended. It was the honest truth. You made excellent points...
To: rightwingreligiousfanatic
Tinfoil hat, huh? I never figured you as the type.
I recently saw Signs. Didn't like it much, but I liked the part when they made the tin foil hats. That was funny.
To: carton253
I haven't seen the movie, yet, and I'm just joking about the tinfoil hat. I'm not much for conspiracy theory paranoia... but, lets face it, we all have a certain amount of tinfoil or we wouldn't be on FR, right? LOL!
To: rightwingreligiousfanatic
I haven't seen the movie (Signs), yet, Just make sure you take an extra pair of clean skivvies...

Jess initially said yes, but then I found out Tuesday that I had to stay late to work with some of the night students on ThursdayThank God you had to stay late!! SSQ just told me that they've only found 11 people who were not either dead or seriously injured. That is just amazing! Prayers going up for all affected by this.
You're right, RI is such a small state, it would be surprising for any resident NOT to know someone affected in some way by this.
To: Corin Stormhands; Bear_in_RoseBear
Yeah, I've heard that it's super-scary. I'm interested to see the plot line of Mel Gibson recovering his faith, though. It sounds like it was done very well.... I liked Bear's earlier reviews...
To: rightwingreligiousfanatic
Jr. and I rented it a couple of weeks ago. We still haven't decided if we liked it or not. But then again, I don't like surprises...
To: rightwingreligiousfanatic
I don't think that's true... I think most of us have good heads on our shoulders. I know that you do that's why I was surprised about the tin foil hat remark.
But I didn't get the joke... bad me... next time I will, I promise.
Signs was okay... about a 5-6 in my book. I watched it on pay per view. The Sixth Sense was so much better.
To: carton253; rightwingreligiousfanatic
The Sixth Sense was so much better. Yeah, what Smeagol said.
To: Corin Stormhands; carton253
I liked the Sixth Sense, but (because ?) it was a little creepy in places... I figured out the "surprise" pretty early in the movie, so that made it interesting to watch from that perspective... I wouldn't let my kids anywhere near it though...same with Signs...
To: Corin Stormhands
I didn't find it scary at all. I thought it would be scary, so I was very disappointed when it wasn't.
To: rightwingreligiousfanatic; carton253
I figured out the "surprise" pretty early in the movie... Not me. Totally caught me offguard. We let Jr. watch it when he was 12. And we watched it with him.
To: rightwingreligiousfanatic
I figured out the Bruce Willis character was dead pretty early in the movie. What totally took me by surprise was that he didn't know he was dead. Wow!
