Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

Yup, downloaded it and listened to it, and you're right, it's full of funk. I just prefer Ford's jazzy version... it was the original, and I've heard it all my life, so it's the one I'm comfortable with. :) Have you ever heard that version?

seems like the mail is taking longer latelyYup, they had a big layoff last summer iirc, so everything takes them longer... spent about 1/2 hour in the Post Office to send a package this morning, when I got there at 8:40 there were already 20 people ahead of me in line.

Bye all! I'm off to go pick up my cat at the vet's office. Zoe got her shots and got spayed today, poor brave dear! I dropped her off last night and boy did I miss her! And I have Gidget to do this all over with again.
BTW...I'm getting pain meds for Zoe and it's in tablet form. So I'll be soon finding out what it's like giving pills to cats!

LOL! I'm glad I've got the whole lab to myself today!

Poor kid...
We've been lucky thus far this season, as Autumn's only been sick once. It's such a heartbreaking thing to have to see...knowing that there's only so much you can do.

I'm expecting a scathing PM any minute. People are pming me laughing!

Give her lots of love and comfort, DT! She'll be right as rain in no time!
Keep her from licking at her sutures if you can.
I'd crush the pills and mix them with water, then use a baby syringe to drizzle it down her throat.
To: Dawntreader
Good luck with the pills! I've got one of those pet pillers....it helps.

For TTT I can understand there being no lead acting nods, but at least give them something for the supporting actors! And PJ did an outstanding job again! Oh well, it probably isn't worrying PJ too much so I'll try to calm down...It's all about Hollywierd and who is in the "In Crowd". We all know that the truly great movies rarely get noticed, and the most obscure (and usually boring) ones get the most clamor (see: "Shine" and "Godsford Park")
It's all vanity, posturing and masturbation as far as I'm concerned. I don't usually even watch the ceremonies. Waste of time.

Ur...Seamus. Don't take this as a chastizing please but we do have underage Hole Dwellers here now. :)

They had BETTER give Jackson his due with ROTK or so help me. And if crap like The Hours (grant it, I haven't seen it but I read the complete movie spoiler on it) wins over TTT, heads will roll.Ok...here's my last comment on the whole Oscar nonsense, then I promise I'm done.
Here's why The Hours or About Schmidt will win over TTT:
Hollywood controls the Oscars, I think we can all agree on that. Hollywood is also insanely liberal...again, I think we can all agree.
Movies that typically are lauded by Hollywood types are either highly depressing (like The Hours and About Schmidt), or ones that deal with leftist social issues (see Monsters Ball).
Great films like TTT and We Were Soldiers will never get their due because they deal with issues that the Hollywood types can never, and will never comprehend. Issues like Bravery, Nobility, Honor, Trust, Doing the right thing, Courage, Valor, etc.
They can't stand the fact that movies like TTT actually make people feel good, and help people realize that there are "things worth fighting for".
And you all know it ticked them off royally when Aragorn shouted, "Show them no mercy, for you would receive none!" For that is not the left-wing/Hollywood way.
I bet TTT would be cleaning house if Aragorn had instead shouted, "Let us attempt to understand their anger!"

My Big Fat Greek Wedding This was a REALLY cute movie!!The only part of that movie I liked was when she got up from her desk, started to walk away, but didn't realize she had left her phone headset on, and fell.
LOL...if I had a nickle for every time I've done that...

But seriesly, that's when I think it becomes a matter of faith. Do I panic and try to do everything myself? Or do I consider the swallows and the lilies of the field and trust God to take care of us?I vote for the latter.
We've got some basics set aside, in case we lose power or something, but I'm not going all-out with the plastic and duct-tape scenario. My reasoning is, if it's meant to be, it's meant to be.
Preparedness is one thing, but sealing up one's house is different.
Besides, I really don't think I'd want to live in a post-nuclear world anyway.
