The Hobbit Hole III - Journey to the Cross-roads!

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

The re-inflating of the auto-pilot still puts me in stitches!
To: Dawntreader
Yeah, that's the first one.
Johnny, what can you make out of this? [hands him the weather map]
Well, I can make a hat or a brooch or a pterodactyl...

Hehe...I'm just really bored at work right now. I have work to do, but I can't concentrate. I'm leaving early at 3 so there you go. Anytime I'm leaving early the day drags on and on and on.
To: ecurbh
DOY! I didn't see you had that in your tagline LOL.
To: HairOfTheDog
Interesting. I just downloaded the soundtrack from that movie last weekend.

Oh yeah - that guy is funny as heck!
But the best is the fella who keeps saying "I guess I picked the wrong to quit (insert steadily strong addiction here)."

I meant to say "I guess I picked the wrong TIME to quit..."

Sam's Club sells Birks pretty cheap sometimes...I got my first pair of Birkies at BJ's about 7 yrs. ago. They were Arizona sandals and I have just about worn them out! A couple of years ago, I happened on to a Birki day on QVC and ordered a pair of sandals with the strap behind the heel. Last year, I ordered another pair from a different place, thinking it was an ivory color, but turned out to be mocha (don't know how I made THAT mistake) Anyway, when I got them, Clare saw them and that was the end of that, cause she and I wear the same size. I got a pair of Boston black microfiber clogs last fall, then mid-winter I ordered a pair of shoes. I wish they made some mid-calf boots that were sorta dressy, at least not lace up like they have now. The only non-laced boots are the knee boots and I don't want those!
I'm either gonna get those Barbados Stars and Stripes sandals this year or the Barbados Retro Blue style. Check those out Here!

Jeepers! It's the Birki motherlode! I never thought to check on ebay!
I wear the 39 Reg in sandals and the 40 Reg in shoes. I gots double-wide feet, to I need sandals with the buckles that can be adjusted or shoes that I know have some give across the instep. I'd love a pair of clogs with a raised heel like the Alton, but I just don't know if it would be too narrow for my tooties! I guess I'll just have to order some and try them on, or see if there's a store nearby that carries them. A friend told me about a Birki Outlet about an hour away. Maybe someday I'll get down there to check it out!

Rose had the same problem with an auction she won on Ebay back in mid-January... her CD just showed up last week, it took about 2 weeks and 2 or 3 days to arrive via Media Mail.

Ha! Except I never buy them for myself! Every shoe I've had up until I bought these Chucks were hand-me-downs from my mom who wears a size larger than me. I've gone years with my feet flopping around in my sneakers!
My mom did give me my red Enzo's for Christmas...in my size.
I'd really love a pair of these Birkenstocks...but it's not going to happen.

"Round here no one wears Birkenstocks but Greeners and queers!"
