Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

Just heard that "Chicago" got the most Oscar nominations.

I saw that Zeta-Jones lady in a clip of her dancing around during that film...

It was so dreadful it made my eyes water. She was like some big clunking cow up there undulating around and it was truly the worst thing I've ever seen.

Now I admit, I'm no slim young lady anymore...but I don't get up in front of everyone in a leotard and try to pretend I am.

Hollywierd has truly lost it's mind.

BEVERLY HILLS, Calif. -- The frisky musical ''Chicago,'' adapted from the stage hit about two murderous women competing for tabloid celebrity, led Academy Awards contenders Tuesday with 13 nominations, among them best picture and four acting honors.

Other best-picture nominees for the 75th annual Oscars were the 1860s vengeance epic ``Gangs of New York''; the Virginia Woolf-related drama ``The Hours''; the fantasy adventure ``The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers''; and the Holocaust saga ``The Pianist.''

I really need some coffee. I woke up this morning just in time to see Joshua barf by my bed again! Bless his heart, he can't get it into his head that he should go to the bathroom. He wants me with him and can't think of anything else at the time.

12" of snow Saturday, 6 more inches last night, a dusting tonight, and more expected for Wednesday and Friday

Y'all got socked!! We got 10" our of the first storm and only about 3 last night. Looks like both those storms stayed to the South of us; over RI, then through Boston and out to the Cape.

Yesterday SSQ was looking out over the back yard and said "You know, I'd really like to see the grass again". LOL!! We've enjoyed this about as much as we can stand!

I just heard that PJ was NOT nominated for Best Director. Roman Polanski was, but he ain't comin back here, that's fur sure. Anybody see "The Pianist", by the way?

How can a movie be nomindated for Best Picture and NOT have any acting or directing nominations?

For TTT I can understand there being no lead acting nods, but at least give them something for the supporting actors! And PJ did an outstanding job again! Oh well, it probably isn't worrying PJ too much so I'll try to calm down...

Good grief! I feel as irrelevant as the UN. Out of that whole list, I've only seen:

My Big Fat Greek Wedding
Minority Report

There are several others I want to see, but haven't.
