Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

Mmmm!
Listen, you could try the yogurt. Get plain yogurt, no sugar or flavoring. My greyhound would eat it when she wouldn't eat anything else when she was sick.
Antibiotics kill the natural flora that keeps loose stools from happening. Yogurt puts it back. Even a little dab would help, I think.

Should I stop the antibiotics? They were given more as a precaution: she didn't have antibiotics the last time she had her teeth cleaned.

The Somalia bombing was most likely the bombing ordered by X-42 in response to the US embassy bombing. Apparently it was an innocent target, but it was in response to an attack on us by AlQuaeda. I don't remember x42 bombing the Somalis. I DO remember him bombing the aspirin factory in the Sudan! What a dolt! Then he bombed the terrorist training camp (conveniently after everyone had left it) in order to distract folks from the Monica Lewinsky grand jury testimony! That's why Dubya remarked after 9/11,"When I respond to the terrorists, I'm not going to fire a 2 million dollar missle at a $10 tent just to hit a camel in the butt."

Yeah. That's him in Independence Day. I actually had to see it a couple of times before I recognized him.That's interesting, because I can usually spot an actor by voice long before I recognize his changed appearance.

They may have told you why the antibiotics were prescribed... but if not, I *think* the reason is this....
The plaque that is stuck in between teeth and in the pockets of the gums are loaded with bacteria. When they clean the teeth, that bacteria is released to the general system, both through abrasions made in the gums while cleaning and through the cat swallowing during the procedure... Older cats are more easily weakened by infections than younger ones, so they might be giving her the antibiotics for that reason, or perhaps because new publications are indicating they should. I have been given antibiotics for my old dogs after cleanings, but I don't recall that always happening when they were younger.

I'd call and ask the vet tomorrow. If it was a "just to be safe" thing...he/she might say it's ok to quit them.
But your kitty might like the yogurt...like a treat!

Yeah - it is worth a call to the vet if she is having bowel issues and not eating. Or just stop. Enough time has passed now that the risk of infection has got to be pretty low.

Matthew and Steve have gone to the banquet. I'm home alone with the sick little one and we're glad for the quiet!
I think I might put in him a steamy shower...I bet that would feel good to a stuffy nose and scratchy eyes.
