Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

I am pretty sure you did not miss any of it. I still vote for guava pastelitosWell I have some new cookie sheets that just will NOT burn the bottoms of cookies, so I'm going to try a few recipes before Entmoot. I want to see if I can perfect the recipe making it soft and chewy in the middle, but slightly crispy on the outside; I've only got 10 months in which to do it!

What kind of cookie sheets are those? The burning of cookie bottoms is a sometime problem here, almost as bad as the problem of all the cookies being eaten before being cooked.

Check out this great article written by a home schooled sophomore. She's taking to ask the Supt. of Tulsa Schools for trying to go after homeschoolers and require more accountability of them. It was in the Tulsa paper, but this re-print is linked from the HSLDA website
