Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

Jacob is his given name... nobody can call him Jakey besides Rebecca without gettin' punched...
He was out the other day playin with the boys, when a 6 year old got in his face and threatened him (Jake turns 5 May 1st)... I was standin at least 40 yards away and I clearly heard the thud when Jake punched him in the jaw and the kid went down... I turned and walked away...

Okay, I have a question for everyone. When watching something or other extra on my extended version of FOTR I heard something new to me. What the heck is the deal in England with dwarf tossing? I thought that was just some weird comment they carried into the movie. But, then they were discussing how people thought it was bad taste because of the "sport" of dwarf tossing in England. What? Someone in the know please explain.

I like the combat teams too. I liked the one when they were trying to make their own bows and arrows. And they've got to have some great outtakes that we'll never see. One ep of Junkyard Wars ("Scrapheap Challenge") in England) had some. 140 hours of video for a one hour show.
There must be an interesting legal story about why the same show has two different names, and why the other show's logo is blotted out when seen here.

So, g'nad, if your wife is a Galadriel, then we could infer that you would need a new freeper screen name.

Oooh...you're just asking for it today, aren't ya?

Oops....sorry about spoiling your breakfast.
I still like my chocolate and Bailey's.

Speakin' of naked butts, our little one (turns 3 tomorrow) hit the "let's take off all our clothes" phase this weekend... I love that phase!!! okay, so i'm a pervert mom. These days I could probably be arrested for that huh? I think that one is cute. Of course when Myranda was at that phase we lived waaaayyy out in the country with no close neighbors. In any kind of warm weather she used to hit the back screen door and somehow simultaneously be removing clothing and immediatly find a water hose or some way to play in water.

I was standin at least 40 yards away and I clearly heard the thud when Jake punched him in the jaw and the kid went down... I turned and walked away...Heh heh, I get worried about my boys sometimes because they are pretty laid back. One day we were at the beach and their older sister had built a sand castle. She finished and they all went boogie boarding for a bit.
Meanwhile some kid, probably about 7 came along down the beach and danced through my daughters sand castle. My kids came back up and my daughter (who was eleven at the time) started crying. Well Josh (who was seven) caught sight of the kid and started off after the kid saying he was gonna teach the kid a lesson. ;^)
I stopped him and had them rebuild the castle together. the kid came back and Josh got up and started after him again and the kid ended up apologizing and saying he thought it was his own sister's castle.
Outside I had to help keep the peace, but inwardly I was cheering him on as he defended his sister. That gives me hope since otherwise they spend more time annoying the heck out of each other. It's nice to know that when the chips are down they'll back each other up.

I wouldn't take a good shotgun (O/U, or over $500) doin' somethin' like that... an old pump would do just fine...

I once went to a playground with my kids and Joshua (3 at the time) walked in front of the slide. This kid came down the slide and hit Joshua (accidently). Well, Joshua would have none of it and came up swinging. I mean just like a little helicopter, his arms were going so fast! I dashed over and picked him up around his waste with this arms still flying!
I thought it was hysterically funny, but the other homeschool moms were just mortified with me.

Here follows one of the last notes in the Red Book
dwarves recognize beauty when they it...This is true!
"We have heard tell that Legolas took Gimli Glóin's son with him because of their great friendship, greater than any that has been between Elf and Dwarf. If this is true, then it is strange indeed: that a Dwarf should be willing to leave Middle-earth for any love, or that the Eldar should receive him, or that the Lords of the West should permit it. But it is said that Gimli went also out of desire to see again the beauty of Galadriel; and it may be that she, being mighty among the Eldar, obtained this grace for him. More cannot be said of this matter."
