Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

Okay, growing up in SA. Were you there in the mid-'70's? Yes, I was there in the 50's 60's and 70's too. My family still lives there except for the neice and daughter in Austin. Old Floresville road seems like the home of all the scary stories of urban myth in that part of Texas. I have heard more, and will be sure to share them at a mini-moot maybe. I would love to hear the details of the birdman one. :)

Tonite I went out at 9:00 p.m. because we needed stuff (you can't make do without diapers or coffee) and the wife took a nap this afternoon so she didn't get to the store.snip!
the Mrs. comes to me with her coat on saying she's going out 'cause I left her all alone.
If Steve did this to me, I know exactly what I would say! I'd say "WHAT??? NOW you are going out?? Why didn't you tell me you were going out!? I wouldn't have had to go to the STORE all alone! I could have caught up on all the HOUSEWORK (all alone)."
So, it's probably a good thing it's you dealing with this and not me...

I would love to hear the details of the birdman oneyou know, i so hated to mention that. usually this brings the veil of psycho-nut-case-drugged-out-female over me. but i wasn't. and i wasn't alone when i saw the thing. and to this day i ain't seen no critter or bird that looked like the thing.
therefore, i think it must have been a big bird with a king size black bedspread throwed over itself and 2 long tubular things hanging way down for legs. 6 foot pantyhose stuffed with something. but the head and hands i can't figure out yet.
obviously, the incubation of WETA workshop was in southeast SA off old Floresville road.

I've been to Ft.Davis and the observatory many times. Stayed at the Indian Lodge there. I love the whole area too. Never have seen Marfa Lights. But at night there, it does seem like the air is so clear and the stars so bright and close you could reach out and touch them.
