The Hobbit Hole III - Journey to the Cross-roads!

Posted on 12/17/2002 7:32:02 AM PST by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Journey to the Cross-roads

The Two Towers Edition

Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)

Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

Less experienced with cats than with dogs, but I don't think they will spay her while she is in heat.

Our vet did, but he wasn't happy about it. She didn't really show the signs, so we didn't know and he didn't recognize it until he'd already begun the procedure. Of course he charged us more.

I'm in northern Anne Arundel Co. about a 25 minute ride south of Baltimore, in the town of Linthicum. You ever been to AA Co.?

I'm 'bout an hour south of g'nad and 'bout two hours north of OT.

Hmmmmm, you know, I drove about three hours away for our mini-moot.......

Sounds like Corin's town would be a nice place to have a VA/NC mini-moot......

No - I have never been in the Columbia Tower.

I hear it really moves in the wind. Kinda like bein' on a big ship.

15? I think? Maybe 16...

I don't have an nickel whistles...just brass. Well, I have a nickel Bb, but it's so huge I can barely play it...the reach for my right pinky is too far for me to comfortably play it and I miss it all the time.

I've been wanting a nickel whistle.

It is a text-based multiple-user D&Dish internet game. You can connect via Telnet or an advanced MUD client (Telnet with frills). The precurser to graphics-based multiple user games like Everquest. In some ways it is like a chat in that you can interact with other folks. You play a character by taking it on adventures, 'killing' things, getting points, learning skills, buying and selling 'equipment'. Its a great way to kill time. Very addictive.

It's a great place if you can find the areas that aren't stinking with libs in it! LOL!

I did find such a place though in an apartment community in Linthicum.

You have various keys, right? I only have Ds, and I already have too many! Especially as it isn't even my main instrument!

I don't remember it swaying in the wind. I was probably drinkin' too much of the old winyard.

I did a conference there in 1991 and we had the Chairman's reception on the top floor. About halfway through the evening the "buzz" going through the crowd was "have you been to the women's restroom?"

By the end of the evening, all the men had to see what the chatter was about. Each stall was set up with it's own sink. But the amazing part was that as you (ahem) sat, you gazed out a huge picture window that framed the mountain.

LOL! Well, I don't think it sways in any-ole wind, I think it sways in wind storms! I had a friend that worked in it. The higher up you were, the more people got sea-sick until they got used to it.
