Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

Play the Riders of Rohan theme for me... I have to go shovel horse poo and put them to bed.

Hi there!
I've already restored my hard drive and drivers and am now in the process of downloading patches for Windows XP. After that, I have to download the trial version of Norton Systemworks and the Norton Firewall. Then maybe...just maybe...Glen will not be able to bring any unwanted visitors to our lovely new PC anymore! LOL!
Corin is well into the first hour of his first TTT viewing. I wonder if he's enjoying it as much as we have. *wink* How could he be disappointed? At least Gimli doesn't do anything foolish. Like surfing down a set of stairs on a shield for instance. :)
Oh, and Hair...I thought Steve Irwin was the only person on earth fascinated by animal poo! *grin*
To: RMDupree
I am not fascinated by animal poo! I am just on the receiving end of a lot of it - Some days the most important function I serve is to manage what must go into, and out of an animal.

I hope Corin checks in with us when he gets home!
2J... I was gonna revisit the issue of Matthew... Contrary to all the hype, I was struck that the movie was not all that bloody and gory (nothing on the scale of the final fight in FoTR)... There are not a whole lot of really bad shots that I remember, but rather, an extended amount of more distanced warfare. Did you see anything that will keep you from taking Matthew?

Indeed you are correct, at our theater (3 p.m.) I noticed any number of local contractors trucks and vans in the parking lot, yet, upon walking into theater I saw little evidence of excavating, foundation repairing, plumbing, general contracting or electric work being done.
We surmise they were the "ready response team" strategically located at theaters around the metro area, to handle any and all unforseen problems that could arise at a moments notice.
A possibility exists however that one particular contractor may have been seeing the movie, after all I know his dog is named "Samwise Gamgee".
To: JenB
Magnificent Jen.
Yours is the most interesting discussion of the movie yet -- one which I think will enhance my first viewing, still 42 hours away :(
To: Scott from the Left Coast
Lacey was full up last night at 8:00. I arrived half hour early and found the end of the line around two corners behind the theater. More people arrived after me. - they had expanded it to two screens, an 8:00 and 8:30 show, and both were sold out. Someone said... "There was a longer line for Star Wars!". I said, "You know... I now this LoTR vs. Star Wars thing is really competitive... but the line can only be so long. It can't be "More sold out". LOL!"

Has there yet been on one of these Hobbit threads a discussion of the Riders of Rohan and horse poo?

LOL! I know what you mean, Hair.
In my animal hospital years, I spent afternoons up to my elbows in the nastiest of animal by-products.
There was one dog, very old and decrepit, that never did his business outside. You could walk him and walk him until his legs gave out, but he would wait until you made up a bed for him in a comfy run and BOOM, the explosion would land right on the pillow every time. Grrrr....
Couldn't be mad at him though, him being so old and all.
To: Rocko
No, Rocko... Would you like to have such a discussion? I could serve as the expert!
To: HairOfTheDog
Uh, not really.
