The Hobbit Hole III - Journey to the Cross-roads!

Posted on 12/17/2002 7:32:02 AM PST by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Journey to the Cross-roads

The Two Towers Edition

Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)

Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

That's kind of poignant, Corin.

LOL!!! It's the eyes, isn't it? The eyes are insincere. I'll have to work on that before Steve gets home tonight. Thank goodness it's a school night!

That doesn't really work, does it?

You'll have to start your E-bay business to pay for them! :)

They aren't red, but I don't think the women in my homeschool group are ready for me to come walking in in a pair of red Chuck Taylors...

Maybe in time for Entmoot!

I'm getting supper ready now...the boys have to be in bed super early...8pm on the dot...Matthew has to be at a Walmart in the morning as a cub scout...he's helping with the flag or something. Walmart gave a bunch of money to the scouts here locally, from what I understand and they want Matthew there.

Anyway, I'll be here tonight for a while...Steve won't be home till late.

LOL! Great picture!

Well...if it makes you feel any better, Rosie was a bad girl this week, too. (Again!) I have a new favorite whistle...a Susato VSB Kildare D

I'm also getting a tweaked Generation from a guy at C&F who is taking my busted Oak off my hands....

Snazzy sneaks, 2J! Clare says you're 'stylin'! Of course that won't help you later tonight!

As for the color, who cares what the mothers in the homeschool group say, anyway? You ought to wear your red 'Enzos' there sometime. Would THAT freak them out?

Man! I'm not sure how I would take that guy! Keeping big cats as pets is kinda odd as it is, but to go around asking people if they know of any dead horses is kinda...well...icky!

I know horses gotta die sometime, but...

What is a blog, Alkhin? Will go check it out in a minute. I have wanted to read the Lomborg book, I guess you recommend it?

A blog is short for 'web log'...and there are a number of them...i think they started out as personal journals, but people like Andrew Sullivan and Natalie Solent and Little Green Footballs have made them very powerful tools of sharing information and opinion. Actually, I think Drudge was in on the first wave of blogs...but Im not certain.

I took the plunge only last Thursday. I talk about Lomborgs book, yes...and yes, I highly recommend it. It is surprisingly level headed, well reasoned and he has observations of his own on what can be corrected and how. I dont always agree with those solutions, but he is not the rabid environmentalist one is used to seeing. The very fact he went out and actually double checked the data makes him far credible than the rest of Greenpeace in my eyes.

Plus he's cute (prolly gay...) but cute. LOL

Thanks!

I'm fixing dinner now and uploading Congressman Billybob to the Yahoo site. I'll probably hang around...maybe keep up with the SOTU thread tonight.

Oh, the Enzos would go over just fine..."Aren't they nice!" don't you know...

Red basketball sneakers?

I don't know...I may need for them to get to know me a bit better first! LOL If there's one thing I've learned about being a square peg...it's best to ease others into it as slowly as possible.

Dropping in again, this using the public site is the pits! The only LOTR cast members who are older than I am are the two Sir Ian's and, naturally, Saruman. I am one year senior to Gimli and King Theoden. So no complaining by all you whipersnappers.

Lacking time to check back, what did you folks think about the Dave Barry LOTR column?

Hi LCS, I thought Elrond was about 5,000 or so. I am only 5 years your junior, same as Suzi is to me.

I am ready for you to get a new computer, your presence is missed here.

I think Sunday's paper is still here, usually like Dave Barry pretty well, he is crazy, IMO.

My daughter likes sneakers like that, has a red pair, I think, I am not sure how well I think they look on a female, but seeing them on you brings me a nice memory of my daughter, now that she's away at college.
