You might be on to something. I hadn't connected all the dots yet but I just couldn't figure out why this story was going on and on and on and . . .

Lott is at the center of a P.R. hurricane. All I'm contributing here is to ask the question: so who's in charge of Democrat P.R. nowadays?
The answer is readily found in plain sight in freely-published information: Hillary.
This is a Hillary op, folks. It even bears the M.O. of previous HillOps.

Too bad GW and a lot of so-called conservatives at FreeRepublic apparently haven't figured it out yet. During the first day I thought it was typical for the Democrats to bitch and whine about an innocuous statement and to try to put some kind of negative spin on it. But the way things have gone, the real story is who is keeping the whole thing alive and why. The fires are being deliberately stoked. The matter is being used to whittle away the Republican advantage in the Senate. The one good thing from this is--we can only hope, given the apparent roll-onto-their-backs-and-beg-the-Democrats-to-rip-their-bellies-open tactic of GW and other Republicans, including Lott--is to show that we absolutely cannot expect the Democrat leadership in Congress to show any kind of fair play and collegiality. The conservative Democrats must be encouraged to join the Republicans. The rest must be targeted for total political destruction and/or banishment to outer darkness.
