Vanity - Who likes cream cheese better'n jelly?

My daughter was out getting her ears pierced before enrolling in the Navy -- we weren't sure of the age cut-off, or what the risk of infection would be, but that doesn't matter because this is a vanity -- and afterwards we got mighty hungry.
I took her out to breakfast, and we had bagels. I had cream cheese on mine, she had jelly. She made fun of me, and I told her she didn't know how to eat a bagel. It made us both so mad we could've stomped our feet.
To settle this feud, we thought we should ask our fellow Freepers what they thought. Help us out, people. It's Sunday and I'd like to get some sleep tonight.
By the way, we learned later that the Navy poses little risk of infection and the age cut-off for piercing is 18.

You are right, of course. Bagel places around here sell pints of cream cheese to go along with the bagels. No offense to your daughter, but jelly and bagels just sounds icky. Especially if you were eating an asiago or jalapeno bagel. ::::Shudder::::: To each their own, but the traditional way is definitely with cream cheese.

I agree.

The correct way to eat a bagel, or any other breakfast bread is with country ham and redeye gravy

Gravy is the best! I love biscuits and gravy -- my favorite.

All my brothers, sisters, and kids like peanut butter and Miracle Whip sandwiches.
All of us like cream cheese and jelly, just depends on the mood.

Peanut butter and Miracle Whip sandwiches? You ought to be ashamed to feed that to your children. For shame, for shame.
I suggest you drive over to the nearest Winn Dixie and stock your trailer full of more high-falutin' fare.
Nighty-night to you,
Paul

Vanity of vanities, all is vanity.

I would of like some more discussion.
Let's have some more "is jelly better'n cream cheese" type talk.
To: Fred Mertz
Yes, I'm being silly, but it's late, I've been drinking, and I lost my job today.
Discuss.
To: Paul Atreides
Yes, I'm trying to tell you something.
To: Senator Pardek
No, I've never been stationed at a SE seaport, but you've never sung Gershwin in the NYC subways.
To: Cicero
Lots and lots of lox.
To: TomB

To: dubyaismypresident
It's fantastic and I'm smokin' more to-nite.
To: hellinahandcart
But it's silly in a good way.
To: paulklenk
If it's Silly, the "in a good way" usually goes without saying. :P
Sorry about your job, Paul.
Will we see you at the party on Dec. 28, or will that "Gershwin in the subways" gig interfere?
To: paulklenk
Are you going to the Dec 28th shindig? If I make it to NJ for the holidays, I'll try to be there too.
Sorry about your lost job. I've been trying to get fired for the past ten months without success.
To: paulklenk
I like
cream cheese AND grape jelly on mine!
Try them both together, then you don't have to choose. Peace in family. Tasty bagels, two more things to be thankful for!
