Vanity - Who likes cream cheese better'n jelly?
Today | Me

Posted on 11/24/2002 7:36:27 PM PST by paulklenk

My daughter was out getting her ears pierced before enrolling in the Navy -- we weren't sure of the age cut-off, or what the risk of infection would be, but that doesn't matter because this is a vanity -- and afterwards we got mighty hungry.

I took her out to breakfast, and we had bagels. I had cream cheese on mine, she had jelly. She made fun of me, and I told her she didn't know how to eat a bagel. It made us both so mad we could've stomped our feet.

To settle this feud, we thought we should ask our fellow Freepers what they thought. Help us out, people. It's Sunday and I'd like to get some sleep tonight.

By the way, we learned later that the Navy poses little risk of infection and the age cut-off for piercing is 18.

I guess you're thinking it's time for the Vanity on Vanities repost. You may be right.

You've never been stationed at a SE Asia port.

Congressman, I'm sure your people must have somethin' to say about this here question. Lazamataz, I'm pinging you purely for entertainment purposes. BADJOE, could you track down Registered and ask him to come up with a cute graphic on this?

Still being,

While I enjoy creme cheese with bagels my personal favorite in peanut butter and strawberry preserves on Ritz Crackers. Just jelly with a bagel is an UGH!! for me. Then there are those forlorn souls who spread their bagel with butter.

No need to call illbay. The thread has been moved to chat. That'll kill it soon enough.

Ahhh, but the real issue that one should raise; is your daughter safe from infection from the Navy? ;O)

In NYC, like elsewhere, we have many kinds of bagels -- salt, poppyseed, onion, etc. But we also have something called an Everything bagel. It's a combination of dough leftover from the rest of the bagels, and it's darn good. Quite pungent, actually.

You can order it with butter or cream cheese, of course.

But if you want it plain, in NYC you order "An everything with nothing."

I am a white-bread Southerner who had never eaten a bagel with cream cheese until last summer at the age of 49.

I instantly knew that it was PROPER and have been relishing them since.

You are right....your daughter is wrong.
