I have tried for weeks to obtain a copy of a certain Harvard graduate's senior thesis. The thesis was written about in the Harvard Gazettte, so I inquired and submitted several requests.
Today, I get a snailmail letter from the Harvard Library explaining they cannot forward me a copy of the thesis for five years without the authors permission.
I and another, have emailed the author several times with no response. This whole process seems like a 'run-around'.
Does anyone know another way to obtain a thesis?
TOPICS: Reference
KEYWORDS: harvard; thesis
I would like to see if anyone on FR has experience with obtaining a seior thesis.

"emailed the author several times with no response"
I would suggest snail mail. Emailing important requests seems impolite to me. Perhaps also try contact thru the alumni association.

The Alumni Association gave me the email address only, no mailing address. I have done many internet address searches with no result.

Yes, I know the title, the author and even have the catalog number. I have done many internet searches and have not found it posted anywhere.
I have not tried the intra-library loan. Thanks for the suggestion.

"Been there and done that"
I have also emailed several librarians there, have gotten reponses, but no thesis.
I am going to get with the county librarian here, and see if I can get this document "loaned" to my county's library.
Thanks for your comments.
