try all the damnyankees who were still holding slaves when the 13th & 14th amendements were ratified.

go look it up for yourself, if you don't believe me. DE had ALL their slaves still in bondage a YEAR after Richmond fell, for one.

as i've said numerous times, the damnyankees wanted to free southern slaves, but NOT their own. face it the ONLY things damnyankees are really good at are hypocrisy & arrogance.

Delaware and Maryland were border states, and were filled with Southern sympathizers. They most certainly were not "Yankees."

When did Deleware or Kentucky become a 'damnyankee" states? Maryland and Missouri both ended slavery long before Richmond fell while most of your wonderful Dixie kept slavery in place in different forms until the 1960s.

Of the 1800 or so slaves in Delaware at the beginning of the war, only a couple of hundred were left in bondage at the end of the war--most had run off and joined the Union Army. And Delaware's continuation of the institution had a whole lot more to do with the obstructionism of a portion of the population of the state than with anything the North in general felt about the situation. Ironically, States Rights was what kept slavery persisting in Delaware.
