Wow, the Quadrangle of Fear! It's the Quadrangle of Fear against the Fearsome Foursome, Bella, varina, S-G, and lakey. We're doomed.

Ed might also suspect that poor naive Elizabeth may have fallen prey to the sort of unrealistic attraction that 14-yr-old girls can feel. Maybe his strange phrasings, etc., come about b/c he IS holding something back--what he might be holding back on is, he might be trying to keep what he considers Elizabeth's honor from being sullied.I still think it's more likely it's someone she met outside the family, but who might be familiar with the family and its social/church/athletic pursuits. She probably didn't know him well at all, but maybe well enough to not put up too much fuss when he asked her to leave with him. Ditto for MK, who perhaps thought he could be "trusted" to bring Liz back home -- thus her 2-hour wait.
Other than than, it could be, as you suggested, a casual flirtation gone terribly wrong. He took it seriously, she didn't.

jeep was taken into Neth's on June 3, 2002I saw this 'couple days before' reference a couple of times but don't lend any credence to it, all the references with a specific date have said May 30.

I can't tell if they are searching areas with particular types of soil. One other thing, though: one article said the authorities got a tree branch out of the undercarriage (or perhaps one of the wheel wells.) Yes--a tree branch.
We should all also keep in mind that originally, when Moul commented on the filthiness of the jeep, according to Moul Ricci claimed he had been four-wheeling.
See, that's the thing, we keep hearing that people have changed their stories. Doesn't inspire much confidence, does it?
YES, varina and others, I am including the apparent changes to stories regarding what Mary Katherine saw and heard.

The term for this is "inverted snob," and I too have remarked to myself that Varina is such a case. The term, actually, is "reverse snobbery." And when you made those remarks to yourself, did you reply to yourself? If so, then you have far more problems than I do.

"I still think it's more likely",etc.
"casual flirtation gone terribly wrong"
The above comments of yours sound perfectly plausible to me.

"when you made those remarks to yourself, did you reply to yourself?"
Cue "Twilight Zone" music...

I haven't come across "reverse snobbery" in printPossibly you haven't read everything there is to read?
To: varina davis
Thanks for your generosity.
Unfortunately, I already spoiled it with a later post!

Well, bless your heart! Not to me. The kidnapper that scowled at the milkman sounds like one of Ricci's lowlife ex-con buddies. All fingers point to the trailer park & that muddy Jeep that might have been someone else's Jeep.

What does your constant barrage of personal insults have to do with the Elizabeth Smart case?
