honestly, the indie movie "Brigham City"...has a lot to do with this case....I urge all to rent it...Albertsons has it now as does Hollywood...
It is a simple little movie made by a Mormon director about a Mormon community and it is very well done and it has a message about trust...
and it portrays the Mormon church in a very good way....
It certainly does show a realistic portrayal of a certain kind of naiveté that a lot of Mormons, the Smarts included, have. Sometimes people from my faith can be so uninformed about the world around them, especially those who live in Utah. This is not a condemnation because I fully understand it but it is sometimes frustrating to see. I do think that you would find the same type of phenomenon in many other religious groups.
Anyway the movie was good and I would recommend it to my friends regardless of their religious persuasion. It will give a person who knows nothing about Mormons a look into their values and way of life. It does this without being preachy and it is also a pretty fair whodunit.
