According to animal control, who contacted someone from the rattlesnake museum, and NM game and fish, I had in my house what's known as the

New Mexico Banded Rock Rattlesnake

She estimated the age between 7-15 days old and recommended having my house carefully checked out ASAP.

I still feel sick.

Did someone come and take it away from your house?

I hate to say this, but if they're that young, there might be a nest within crawling range of your house... meaning a few more delightful encounters. What else did the Animal Control guy say?

Good info on "your" snake. You really should be wary, since the mother could have come in to have her babies.

OMG!!!!! I'm so glad to see animal control got the snake. I've been fighting the copperheads out here in Virginia. Yikes, those things are dangerous. I hate snakes. Yes, please have your home inpected. You don't want to meet up with the mom and dad snake. Good luck............Oh yeah, and get a good pellet gun.
