I get tears everytime I watch Riverdance.
And that was faked up, too. Argh.

You are lucky, in that in America there are so many like minded people.Actually, among those like minded people, only half of them agree, only about half the time.
As for the unfortunate Riverdance remark, consider the source. I sponsored a US Irish Step Dancer to the Worlds in the late 1980's. Anne finish 7th. one year. not bad for a Yank. As for Riverdance, Irish dancing needed something "vulgar" to make it popular. My little dancer now teaches Step Dancing because of the "faked" dancing in RvrDnce.
Slainte.

"But yet, socialist in the extreme."
I have trouble understanding why the socialist tide continues to rise. It's happenning in the U.S. too, even though we have a constitution written to prevent it. Lots of us are trying to resist it though.
Wouldn't mind seeing Ireland one day, have some ancestry from there.

Even in lovely Erin one can learn from the British "stiff upper lip, and all that", although I prefer a colonial reference "Stay the course." (movie:
The Patriot).
Personally, I find the fellowship of Free Republic comforting, even when we conservatives are fighting amongst ourselves ; )

"American friends..I come from Holy, Roman Catholic Ireland. Conservative you would think, eh? But yet, socialist in the extreme."
I'm not really sure that the Judeo Christian tradition is anti socialist. It does encourage personal responsibility which isn't compatible with socialism, but it also contains endless, almost bureaucratic, rules on every aspect of human behavior, which is very much in line with socialism. I think it could be used either way.

Shoot, I live in California. A part of California where the majority of the populace are ignorant, uneducated, chronically lazy third generation welfare recipients who expect benefits from the government, yet feel no obligation to defend the country or her values.
