Keyword update from one of my favorite thread starters, Merchan Seaman. Though it looks like at some point a mod was able to get his named changed to the correct spelling of Merchant Seaman.

Interesting. I think I read "Writ of Mandamus" in American Lit., in High School.
And I understand Merchant Seaman was out to sea for a long time, but that sure doesn't mean he should have become an "ashore" when he got to New York, as the article states. There used to be laws against that, at least until the Supreme Court recently ruled.
