And the defense didn't even get access to most of the evidence until the trial was under way. It is a prosecution stall strategy.

But regarding the speedy trial, once defense realizes LE is falsifying evidence, every day that passes is another day that prosecution can use to fabricate or destroy evidence as necessary, and get their story straight, and eliminate inconsitencies. Once the evidence is disclosed, it is frozen, and they can't alter it anymore because it is a matter of public record.
