"I do believe the cops have the information....just that they are playing their cards to their advantage...."
I agree. I think the police know a LOT more than they are making public. Remember Dinse making the statement that they had gotten "a tremendous amount of information" from Mary Katherine? As I recall, he went on to say something to the effect that when this is resolved, it will be largely due to the information that Mary Katherine has provided. Regardless of what the police are saying publicly about Mary Katherine's story, I think much has been told that we don't know.
As Neenah said the other day, "Mary Katherine is the key."

That 's where the strange person, man I believe, who picked Ricci up from Moul's could come in. Maybe he did some driving in the jeep. Maybe he was one of the others involved.
Also, what did Ricci do later on the fifth? If he did have the jeep somewhere else how did he get back and forth to it?
There are alot more questions than answers.
I think I will be seeing someone who might shed some light on this soon!

you got me to thinking (hah!) ...remember Dinse said that MK had seen the perp two times with Lizzie....geez,,,maybe Mk saw him outside with Lizzie at the jeep... or some other vehicle...now wouldn't that be something?
. I think Dinse said two times in the house...but perhaps we can think of that also as the house and surrounding property...

... well, that means Ricci from between 1:30 am and 8:00 am took Lizzie, drove her somewhere, buried her after killing her, then got home to be fussing under the trailor for Thumper Thurber to see him.....that in 6 1/2 hours? I agree with your assumption that the abduction probably happened later than assumed. However, he still had enough time. On Monday, this week, I drove from SLC down to Spanish Fork, up over Soldier Summit and down into Price. I didn't time it precisely, but estimate it took more than 90 minutes, but less than 2 hours. Note that the police have requested the public's assistance in searching Carbon and Emory counties. Why is this significant? Because Ricci is known to have hung out in that area, hunted there AND that canyon is full of white mud and pine trees. - especially as you get closer to Price.
In other words, it's entirely possible for Ricci to have driven down there, buried a body, and returned home in less than 4-1/2 hours.
Having said that, I don't think that is what he did. I believe he stashed her in the jeep in some secret location and took care of the other details between June 6th & June 8th, when the jeep was missing.

Someone on Capitol Grilling recapped yesterday's post about your visit to SLC, and said they think you are a retired police officer.
Are you?

cookiedough,
That would make sense, that JG is a retired LEO. The other LE don't make it a habit of chitty chatting with the general public.
My money is on a yes answer.

Didn't think of it at the time I posted #12, but you are the one to ask about the FBI.

His daughters, he said, are 9 & 14, exactly the same ages as Elizabeth & Mary Katherine. That would make him rather young to have retired, unless he went off on a disability.
And, gee, I had him figured for a college senior - look at how he detests sophomores. ;)

Just for fun, we ought to all figure out if JG is LE, or former LE, and then see if we are right! :-)
This may be easier to solve than the Smart case since we've got our target right here.
To: lakey
So what do we know? His kids are 9 and 14, and SLC LE talked to him lately.
Does anyone know if JG is a "he" or a "she"?

Your link - among other things, Ed said he wants Elizabeth to start school.
More than two months in captivity & Elizabeth will be ready to start school!

I think Mr. Smart was trying to appeal to the so-called "better nature" of the person he hopes is holding Liz. Maybe they will say, "Oh yeah, school's starting. Better let her go! My summer fun is over."
At this point, I don't care what the Smarts say. I figure they are so discouraged and distraught by this time, that anything they say can be forgiven them.
To: cookiedough
He says he knows some SLC cops. His FReeper page flies the Texas flag. By the times listed for his posts on the Sunday thread, he didn't attend church that morning.
What else?

Sandude hit it on the head. FBI has resources for these kinds of things that locals don't have. You'll notice in some of the first interviews with LE there was Dinse and FBI even though Dinse did the talking.

It hasn't been long ago that I heard Ed say that 800 miles were on the odometer. I don't recall which t.v. newscast, sorry.

If he just went on a vacation, he's probably not retired.

Thank you both.
I have several books on famous criminal cases - Lindbergh is one. Alan Dershowitz (yeah, hiss, boo, but I bought them long ago before FR was a gleam in JimRob's eye), wrote the forwards.
A summation of comments he made were that, in nearly every case, "reasonable doubt" can be found.
