I just recently lugged a 50 pound sack of fertilizer from the back of my pick-em-truck up onto my back deck. I'm about DW's age and condition. It took some effort, but it was certainly do-able without that much problem.
Lugging that same sack up a steep hill with my motor home parked on the side of a shoulderless busy road -- well, I don't know about that. I think I would have found something else to do with it.
