Patriotic Americans, DO NOT SHOP AT WALGREENS!!!!!
I'd done a roll of film from doing my church's directory, and wanted them done fast this afternoon so I could work on it, so we stopped off at Walgreens to do a one-hour. Patting my pockets, I realized I'd lost my pack of cigarettes. I grabbed a cheap pop and went to the front counter, and asked for a pack of cigarettes.
The kid not old enough to buy a beer refused to sell me a pack of cigarettes because I don't pack my ID when I go to church on Sunday morning. No ID, you can't buy cigarettes from the kids at Walgreens.
Couldn't buy a pack of cigarettes???????? "Where's your manager? How stupid is this?" The manager says no ID, no cigarettes. I am 48 and I look 48, but I can't buy cigarettes at Walgreens, even when the manger says he can see that I am of legal age to buy them. A retail store selling a legal product refused to sell that product to an obviously legal customer, in front of God and everyone, to the humilation of the customer in a crowded store.
I refused to buy the soda, and I told him, in front of God and everyone, that he was an IDIOT, just as I had been humiliated as an adult customer, Of course, neither the kid clerk or the manager cared.
Then the manager lied to me and told me Walgreens lost a 2 billion dollar law suit and that they were ordered to photo ID everyone buying cigarettes. As he weenied off and backed away. This is not true. Walgreens lost no suit, and lost no 2 billion dollars. Walgreens weenied out, and settled in favor of screwing some customers, because most will happen to have their IDs. The few that don't, get humiliated. Well, I don't carry my ID when I go to church on Sunday. Nor should I have to.
I've told him and Walgreen's corporate headquarters that because of this humiliating, stupid episode, I will never ever darken a Walgreen's door again, and I'm not the only one. Walgreens did not lose a lawsuit. I knew that even before I looked it up. When I got home I went to a local store and bought cigarettes and a few beers, thank you, without an ID. I am 48 years old, and I do not need a government ID PERIOD!!! I certainly do not need one to buy legal adult products that I am clearly old enough to purchase.
Because of this humiliating, stupid episode, I will never again purchase so much as a stick of gum from Walgreens, and I've told the local store and corporate headquarters so. You REFUSE TO SELL ME A PRODUCT AND HUMILIATE ME IN FRONT OF OTHER CUSTOMERS - in your WILDEST dreams can you ever expect me to buy another product from you, and I am going to use every influence I have to discourage anyone else to buy from you.
Get this. They have these big red "We Care" signs at the counter, as their excuse for carding EVERYONE. Then I say, if Walgreens believes this crap and is carding obvious adults because "WE CARE," then Walgreens shouldn't sell cigarettes at all. The manager says, "Oh no, Walgreens makes too much on the sale of cigarettes to stop selling them." Folks, DO NOT SHOP AT WALGREENS!! Even if you have an ID and are desparate. PATRIOTIC AMERICAN SMOKERS, NEVER BUY *ANYTHING* AT WALGREENS! Not a roll of film, not a stick of gum! No 17 year old kid tells me I can't buy a pack of cigarettes!
Do you have the address to their Corporate Office? I would fire off a letter to them. If the kid at the counter was too young to sell you a pack, he should have gotten an adult to sell the cigarettes to you!
We have a Wal-Mart up here that I have heard war stories about, but we have no Walgreens. If we did, I surely wouldn't "darken" their door step ever again!
From me to you.......
I've lived in this place and I know all the faces
Each one is different but they're always the same
They mean me no harm but it's time that I face it
They'll never allow me to change
But I never dreamed home would end up where I don't belong
I'm movin' on
I'm movin' on
At last I can see life has been patiently waiting for me
And I know there's no guarantees, but I'm not alone
There comes a time in everyone's life
When all you can see are the years passing by
And I have made up my mind that those days are gone
I sold what I could and packed what I couldn't
Stopped to fill up on my way out of town
I've loved like I should but lived like I shouldn't
I had to lose everything to find out
Maybe forgiveness will find me somewhere down this road
I'm movin' on
