So it's like this: the Lovely Lisa assigned me to make a CD of music for our reception, as we'll be tying the knot this coming Saturday. I've spent the past day or so going through the grooveyard of my MP3 collection and there's some potential material there, but I'm probably overlooking a lot of good stuff.
Here's a sample of what I've got so far:
"I've Got You Babe" (Sonny and Cher)
"Something" (the Beatles)
"Ring of Fire" (Johnny Cash)
"Tequila" (whoever made that)
"Istanbul" (They Might Be Giants)
"Pretty Woman" (Roy Orbison)
"Devil Went Down To Georgia" (Charlie Daniels... appropriate since we'll be getting married in Georgia ;-)
Needs to be a good mix of romantic/touching and party/humorous, dig?

My son is getting married July 26th. I forgot some of the songs they chose but they are having the DJ do songs from every era so that everyone can go back in time for awhile. They even asked me my favorite song of all time, which I have many, but told them, 'Take it to the Limit' by the Eagles.

The soundtracks to Four Weddings and a Funeral and Honeymoon in Vegas might have some selections you would like.

PerfectMy daughter got married last year. She told the DJ she wanted no group dances. No chicken dance, no conga line, no YMCA etc. She had him mix today's music with as much Sinatra as the guy could fit in. At 24, she has pretty good taste and the guests loved it. (A liberal sprinkling of Jimmy Buffett doesn't hurt either).

You need to throw some Jimmy Buffet in the mix

Can't Help Falling In Love - Elvis Presley
Wise men say only fools rush in
But I can't help falling in love with you
Shall I stay
Would it be a sin
If I can't help falling in love with you
Like a river flows surely to the sea
Darling so it goes
Some things are meant to be
Take my hand, take my whole life, too
For I can't falling in love with you
Like a river flows surely to the sea
Darling so it goes
Some things are meant to be
Take my hand, take my whole life, too
For I can't help falling in love with you
For I can't help falling in love with you

"...I married my little Bride in Bainbridge Georgia, April 12, 1952,..."
Congratulations to you and your Child Bride. My First Wife and I were married Feb 1 1957 so we have been been married only 45 years. I bought her her first pair of shoes as a present.
To: Darth Sidious
Blues musician Milton Hopkins told me that he once was requested by the bride to play "The Thrill Is Gone"!

PERHAPS LOVE
Perhaps love is like a resting-place
A shelter from the storm
It exists to give you comfort
It is there to keep you warm
And in those times of trouble
When you are most alone
The memory of love will bring you home
Perhaps love is like a window
Perhaps an open door
It invites you to come closer
It wants to show you more
And even if you lose yourself
And don't know what to do
The memory of love will see you through
Oh, love to some is like a cloud
To some as strong as steel
For some a way of living
For some a way to feel
And some say love is holding on
And some say letting go
And some say love is everything
And some say they don't know
Perhaps love is like the ocean
Full of conflict, full of change
Like a fire when it's cold outside
Or thunder when it rains
If I should live forever
And all my dreams come true
My memories of love will be of you

May the Good Lord richly bless you. Stick it out, not matter what. Kiss and hug a lot!

I would never have thought of this if I weren't listening to it-WSM.com,the Opry-"I Hope This Day Is Good" by Don Williams.
I was going to say "Annie's Song" by John Denver.

The theme from Star Wars. ;-)Had thought of that, but opted not to.

"What Is Love?", by Haddaway
