I'm a dope; I forgot to mention that this is Volcano Tungurahua, in Ecuador. You can figure that out by going to the Web site, but I thought I should tell people!

Was it Pliny (the Elder?) who hiked up Vesuvius during a lull in an eruption, only the get caught as it became reactive?
