Thanks. I've seen Mandrake retail boxes at the local Wal Mart for around $29.97. I'm guessing that the install must be easy if Wally World is selling it! So would you say that the main differences in the types of Linux are really the "presentation" (a.k.a. desktop managers) and all the background is basically the same?

If your just starting out, use Mandrake. If you have broadband and a burner, d_load the ISO instead of purchasing a copy.
