so it is because they were self-insured or uninsured, that the hospital was taking this attitude towards the baby? i am appalled at the insistence on pulling the plug. one of my best friends gave birth to a baby at 1 lb. 10 oz. It was a very touch and go situation, but that baby is now 14 years old and a straight A student headed to H.S. next year.

I doubt it. The hospitals probably honestly believed that the situation was hopeless.

It just galls me to see peole rolling the dice and not purchasing health insurance when they can afford luxuries like ski vacations and big screen TV's.
