When I lived in Denver, we used to travel through New Mexico to El Paso several times a year - and there is this marvelous old pawn trading post/museum in Albequerque. I never left there without purchasing something, and the wonder of it was that they would let me purchase on lay-away and ship my Kachina, jewelry, Sand Painting, etc. to me.
At one time I had over 25 Kachina dolls. I love them and I love Sand Paintings. Oh, heck, I love mostly everything Indian!

We stopped in Albequerque last September, on our way home from California......
...took time to go through several of the shops......Was your shop the one that had the Native Americans positioned in front of it, with their wares displayed on blankets?
On the way out of The Grand Canyon, we passed independent stalls along the road.......lots of Navajo jewelry, and I bought an inexpensive turquoise & rope necklace w/a turtle charm.......I wear it all the time.
They were making them right there.
