I want you to know that I could not fight temptation any longer, and this evening, went to the store to buy a chocolate pie from Mrs. Smith. Alas, Mrs. Smith must've had a run on chocolate pies (probably by those people next door in Iowa) and there were NONE!!! Plenty of Key Lime, Cherry (Mountaineer, this is all your fault because you started this) but do ya think they'd have one darned chocolate pie? Oh no. So I bought some Pet thing that says it is chocolate but it isn't. Only in their dreams.

What does this mean for you, Iowa Granny? It means I'll be over Saturday afternoon so ya better have one of Mrs. Smith's thawed out and ready to devour. I look forward to parking in your "Republicans Only" parking spot. And yes, I'd love to have one of those signs, too.

I will set the pie out to thaw in the morning. I will be in Cedar Rapids at the State Republican Convention Fri & Sat. But you just come on over,,, park in the "marked" spot and help yourself to the pie.

A major family feud is simmering in the Party. I am trying to steer clear of it, but it will be difficult. I am taking a first aid kit with me to the convention.

I feel like I'm in a time warp...listening to Chris Matthews interview Peetah Ahhhhnette, formerly of CNN fame. Peeetah has apparently interviewed Tariq Aziz and other high Iraqi officials and GUESS WHAT?! They told Peetah they don't have any Weapons-of-Mass-Destruction!

Whew! Glad we cleared that up.

If she's sitting at the State Chair's table, she is right up front. And if the State Chair is worth his salt, while everyone else is milling around looking for their tables, he will sneak HLL behind the curtain for a quick intro to our VP.

I've been to dozens of these things. After everyone is seated, they lower the lights and introduce the head table,, as they introduce each one, they emerge from behind a curtain and wave to the crowd before taking their seats at the headtable which is elevated on a platform.

Word has it today that our delicious VP will be in Cedar Rapids the end of July on behalf of Jim Leach, my Congresscritter. I will be there,,, but most definitely NOT at the State Chair's table,,,, I am too much of a renegade for that.

Sorry y'all! I guess it was just me that went down, it's very soggy here and the cable lines are underground.

HLL called back when Lynne Cheney was speaking. I could hear her voice but had a hard time making out what she was saying. Same thing for the VP.

Should be getting a call soon for the after report on the drive home, but of course only HLL will be able to report exactly how great the evening was.
